We just got a tip......that a major newspaper will break a front-page story Monday morning that could create a serious problem for the Kerry campaign. We don't yet have any details, but it relates to a foreign policy issue, and it will call into question--amazingly enough--John Kerry's truthfulness.
We'll watch for the story Sunday night and post it as soon as it becomes available.
I've never read it before either, that's why it hit me so hard.
"All this talk of Clinton making appearances for Kerry now makes sense. First the Clintons plant the stories that BillJeff will campaign at some Kerry rally in Philadelphia. Then the Clintons plant this story (who cares, whatever it is) that rocks the Kerry campaign off its hinges. Then, in the grandest of coups de grace, Bill Clinton announces he will not campaign for Kerry.
Game. Set. Match. The Frenchman from MA is histoirie. The Frenchman's treachery is even too much for Clinton to support.
Gee those Clintons are so smart. </sarcasm>"
If this is one of the Toon's Machiavellian games, you have to give him credit. But it all seems wasted if it's in preparation for Hillary 2008. That would be one of the worst campaigns in history (superseding even JK's). I can't imagine anyone but the true believers voting for her. And that's not even a sexist comment, because Hillary is no woman.
Cheney's name was mentioned - do you think he knows anything that he could have been holding as an "ace in the hole"?
Maybe it has to do with Kerry's correspondece to Iran telling them to hold off on any cooperation with the US until he's President.
Now you know why McCain is a SuckA$$!
John Kerry and Senator John McCain leaf through pages of documents during a June 24, 1992, hearing on Americans missing or imprisoned in southeast Asia. Kerry said that as many as 133 prisoners may have been left behind at the end of the Vietnam war, and the Pentagon may have deliberately misled families about the fate of some service men.
Maybe this:
Sen. John Kerry has been accusing President Bush of allowing Osama bin Laden to escape during the Tora Bora battle. But on Larry King Live on Dec. 14, 2001, near the end of the battle, responding to a question about why we weren't getting in the caves and using napalm or flamethrowers, he appears to endorse a play-it-safe approach:
But for the moment, what we are doing, I think, is having its impact and it is the best way to protect our troops and sort of minimalize the proximity, if you will. I think we have been doing this pretty effectively and we should continue to do it that way.
And later: I think we have been smart. I think the administration leadership has done it well and we are on the right track.

Wonder if the dems, will try and stop the publication like they stopped Sinclair.
"Second choice ChiTrb. There may be a reason they endorsed Bush."
My take on (my newspaper,) the Chicago Trib's endorsement of President Bush is due to the nature of the very real terrorist/securtiy threats that face our city. Remember that there were those that had diagrams and early planning of a plot in the works, that was twarted, on methods to take down the Sears Tower. Those Middle-Eastern men sit in jail. Chicago has gone through a litany of advanced security/safety procautions and practices since 9/11. Our city is most definately one of the few at the TOP of the list that absolutely NEEDS to take Homeland Security very seriously DAILY, and Mayor Daley KNOWS and lives this. Ours is a beautiful and very productive city with much pride. And Mayor Daley is very politically savy--carefully weighing how to advance himself and his fair city. He knows that in today's world, the safety/protection of Chicago, and the WORLD'S BUSIEST AIRPORT, O'Hare, heavily relies on the policies and vision and fortitude of George W. Bush (versus wimp-boy, wait to be attacked, Kerry.) Daley knows on which side his bread is buttered--and I'm sure is also feeling confident (from inside info) in a Bush win. He is now undisputedly the most powerful mayor in the country, and truly CARES about Chicago and its continued, very successful future.
And yes, I know that there's an ongoing feud between The Trib and the mayor, but the presidential endorsement for the city trumps those, I feel.
Thanks for the photo, had not seen it before.
Here's a link to an older thread about the McCain connection to this POW story. I'm surprised it never made much of a ripple before, it seemed to disappear very quickly.

But it's from months ago, and maybe it should be bumped to the top, or somehow reposted.
this doesn't sound like much more than just another flip-flop.
This shouldn't stop with the election. Even if Bush is elected, this should be persued to its fullest extent and should at the very least be cause to kick Kerry (McCain?) out of the Senate.
The military discharge I hope...
The perfect setup would be:
The coverup story breaks. Wash Post says they'd been investigating this, produce two POW's.
Putin provides corroboration.
That would be a perfect win.
Kerry and NBC's Lawrence O'Brien will announcetoday that they have been in a a committed relationship" for the last 8 years....Teresa is just a "beard"
Neither of them will be kicked out of the Senate. It's an old boys club, and they all protect each other.
We seem to have reached a point where people are not held responsible for the grave injustices they commit.
This POW/MIA story is so reprehensible that I can't even believe it goes nowhere.
