I guess this would be a "pro-choice" army?

Amen Truth Table!

I was on another thread the other day making the same arguments. Seems there are a lot of folks who know nothing of military law making speculations. They don't understand the nature of the UCMJ. Innocent until proven guilty does not apply in the military.

Fact of the matter is that they refused a lawful order in a combat zone. Period!

They could have been shot. Pure and simple. Extreme, but they could have been.

I brought up this very point. I was labeled an extremist.

If any of those events happened during WWII no one stateside would have heard about it or had any sympathy for them if they had.

These things happen in war. Not everyone is a hero. I have no sympathy for these guys. They signed up for the military, so they are owned by the military. No one forced them.

Unfortunately this isn't the great patriotic war WWII was. Helping Iraqi's establish democracy, when most Americans don't even like Arabs or Muslims, isn't the most popular of reasons for armed conflict. Some people will give these soldiers sympathy simply because they don't support the war. Logic doesn't enter the picture in their reasoning.

Well, military life is extreme. Most of the folks who would call someone citing the UCMJ an "extremist" have no idea of what military life is actually like outside of watching tom cruise movies. Don't worry about it.

There was this airman that worked with my husband a couple of years ago. His wife had a lot of mental problems(depression) and she was abrasive when she came in contact with all the other wives(long story). Anyway, she complained that the Air Force had it out for her and they treated her poorly, etc. She killed his career, the worst was my husband said he was one of his best men. The WIFE killed his career.

I agree we need to rely less on our guard and reserves. I have personally experienced problems with people who signed on for the outstanding educational benefits only to end up in a war zone with extreme attitude problems.

However, attitudes can be adjusted. 18 folks not reporting for duty is a leadership problem. Most likely these folks grew up together, work with and for each other, have same social/political views. Someone from above let this attitude fester unabated. That is the person who needs to be held most responsible for this unfortunate event.
