John Kerry and wife Teresa had a combined income of $6.8 million last year and paid $725,000 in taxes giving them a tax rate of 12.8 percent. Is this fair?

Yes -- Special, important people should pay a special low rate.

No -- That's disgraceful. The average American pays a 20 percent tax rate.

The very rich buy state and municipal bonds that finance important infrastructure projects such as schools, water and sewers.

For that risk they earn a modest tax free return.

We want more rich people in this country to invest more of their money..

Someday I hope to be able to invest a portion of my savings in tax free bonds too.

Actually, it is. Any tax over 10 percent is too high. But these "rich don't enough" phonies better not have a tax rate lower than mine.
