TERESA: TEACHING ISN'T A 'REAL JOB' [10/20 12:19 PM]
From USA Today interview with Teresa Heinz Kerry:
Q: You'd be different from Laura Bush? A: Well, you know, I don't know Laura Bush. But she seems to be calm, and she has a sparkle in her eye, which is good. But I don't know that she's ever had a real job I mean, since she's been grown up.
What arrogance. Stunning, unmitigated arrogance!
From the White House:
Inspired by her second grade teacher, she earned a bachelor of science degree in education from Southern Methodist University in 1968. She then taught in public schools in Dallas and Houston. In 1973 she earned a master of library science degree from the University of Texas at Austin and worked as a public school librarian in Austin [until 1977].
Hey, teachers, librarians: Teresa Heinz Kerry says your work isn't a "real job"!
We can't all be ketchup heiresses, you know.
Oops, I goofed!
It was Laura Bush, of course, and not Teresa, that was invited to address TLA in 2000.
There is a lot of folks upset about this - there is also another thread up about it.
I agree.
The problem is that the MSM won't cover any of her stupid remarks...other than the "Shove It" comment.
The MSM knows what a liability she'd be to Kerry's presidential hopes and therefore, they ignore it.
On the other hand, if the wife of the GOP nominee were making comments like this, it'd be considered newsworthy all the time.
I hate our media.
And didn't we just hear that the "gay issue" will be her platform if she is first lady?
You know it!
I have friends and relatives who are teachers and regardless of what some of our FReepers like to say, they have damned hard jobs and do work very hard to school our kids.
Likewise, our friends who choose to homeschool work very hard. And of course moms like us who choose to stay home to raise our kids and keep house and home together. Just because we aren't drawing a paycheck, doesn't dimish the fact that being a Mom and a wife IS a job. A job we love, but still a job.
Keep talking Terry ..
She worked at the UN as a translator
Well, after all Michael J Fox is ONE of the THREE people that Kerry most admires. Another is Christopher Reeve and I didn't catch the third one.
So, Kerry doesn't admire the real Mother Teresa?
He doesn't admire George Washington?
He doesn't admire Abraham Lincoln?
He doesn't admire Teddy Roosevelt?
He doesn't admire Churchill?
He doesn't even admire his own buddy Bill Clinton?
I'm not surprised.
Exactly.
This has me absolutely furious.
Wasn't' Bill O'Reilly a teacher before he became an egomaniacal pundit currently licking kerry's boots? I wonder how he will react to Mrs. kerry's comments?
I don't think THK realized that Mrs Bush had worked outside the home. Her "real job" comment was fired because she thought Mrs Bush was a stay-at-home mom.
I think the slight is towards Moms raising their children at home., who THK thinks don't have a real job,
I repeat my question...did she have a REAL job?
Yes. O'Rielly taught high school in Florida for a couple of years.
I wonder if the NEA will pick up on this. I doubt it.
What a shame it is just a print interview in McNews. It would be priceless to have an audio (or even better a video) of this. Play it on radio and tv every hour between now and Nov 2 in all the battleground states.
I think she's had too many
BTW .. wasn't there a report that the Kerry Camp was going to muzzle Terri??
Good luck with all that.
Well .. a "real" job??
Nope
I got that point totally. That's why I am so furious.
My daughter goes to public school, but I do not have a job outside of the home.....I am here when the school bus shows up in the afternoon, and supervise her homework and reading every afternoon.
The slight at SAMs was very obvious, but it was also a subtle attack on teachers as well.
After reading your post .. I agree .. it was
I take that back, I don't want my students to learn her kind of language.
