NEW YORK (CNN) -- The founder of the U.S. Christian Coalition said Tuesday he told President George W. Bush before the invasion of Iraq that he should prepare Americans for the likelihood of casualties, but the president told him, "We're not going to have any casualties." ..."And I warned him about this war. I had deep misgivings about this war, deep misgivings. And I was trying to say, 'Mr. President, you had better prepare the American people for casualties.' "
[snip] Even as Robertson criticized Bush for downplaying the potential dangers of the Iraq war, he heaped praise on Bush, saying he believes the president will win the election and that "the blessing of heaven is on Bush."

His Dad was a democRatic Senator, wasn't he?
He was in the cast of Harry Flood Byrd though, so I bet he (the elder Mr. Robertson) was OK. Apparantly Pat still remembers the "Republicans are Evil" mantra that was gospel in Virginia before 1964.
I don't believe for a minute that Bush said that. I think Pat got confused, which is not unusual. That is the only reason the MSM interviews him. They know if he says enough there will be some fodder to take focus off the crazy things coming from Momma Ketchup.
I want Americans and all the world to know that coalition forces will make every effort to spare innocent civilians from harm. A campaign on the harsh terrain of a nation as large as California could be longer and more difficult than some predict. And helping Iraqis achieve a united, stable and free country will require our sustained commitment.
A bunch of leftist " REVS" have been saying all kinds of things, yet we don't see a darn thing about that in a negative way do we? This is just stupid, and another way to attack the president.
You would never see it posted by churchillstuff, he pretty much sticks to attacking President Bush any way he can.
Simple reason for Pat running to the Clinton News Network to get his lies out...he is after publicity for his new book, Courting Disaster. He's been making the rounds peddling it. Kinda explains the opportune timing, gg.
Patty boy has NO credibility now. Hope his book bombs.
LOL...must be something in the name. pat "buchanan" was just all over TV shilling the latest version of his same old book...it didn't work.
Do you think this is payback for joining with the evangelicals in order to retain power?
Each side made a deal with the Devil.
Republicans have been forced away from the mainstream in the name of Power and Evangelicals have been forced to dirty themselves in the name of God.
Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely
1993??!?! Try again newbie! You will still be voting for Bush right?
From one believer to another - I hear you loud and clear!
Care to explain?
do-gooder A naive idealist who supports philanthropic or humanitarian causes or reforms. someone devoted to the promotion of human welfare and to social reforms [syn: humanitarian, improver]
Christ! that was a tongue-and-cheek post! :P
The reason the libs scoff when conservatives claim the news can't be trusted is because, respectfully, people like you automatically scream that a news item is fake and biased without even checking. Robertson said this on tape, clear as day.
I am unfamiliar with the expression, 'tongue-and-cheek'. Perhaps you meant, 'tongue-in-cheek'? In any case, there was nothing facetiousness in my earlier post.
Tongue in cheek it was. Though I don't know if you are an authority on what is blasphemy or not.
I'm not an authority on what constitutes blasphemy, but the Holy Bible certainly is. Some people recognize the authority of God's holy inspired Word, and others do not. As I said before, you are free to do as you please, but don't be fooled. According to the Holy Bible, taking the name of God's only begotten Son in vain is blasphemy.
Jesus is my home boy.
