NEW YORK (CNN) -- The founder of the U.S. Christian Coalition said Tuesday he told President George W. Bush before the invasion of Iraq that he should prepare Americans for the likelihood of casualties, but the president told him, "We're not going to have any casualties." ..."And I warned him about this war. I had deep misgivings about this war, deep misgivings. And I was trying to say, 'Mr. President, you had better prepare the American people for casualties.' "
[snip] Even as Robertson criticized Bush for downplaying the potential dangers of the Iraq war, he heaped praise on Bush, saying he believes the president will win the election and that "the blessing of heaven is on Bush."

"Pat, we're trying to have an intelligent Republican party here. Go back to your dumb t.v. show and leave us alone."
He's an embarassment who doesn't represent the party's values. I'd say he's the Right's Brabra Streisand except she exemplifies the Left, while Pat is a jerk who is tolerated because he is perceived to bring in votes. I know plenty of religious conservatives and they sure don't care for him.

Another Pat with a big mouth. I wish these do gooders would just "STFU"! Pat's problem is that he seems to think that he's God's right hand man and a modern day Elijah. He's not obviously and has been incorrect with some of his "visions" in the past which should relegate every future one to the trash heap. He also has some skewed, albeit relatively mainstream, flawed Biblical views/interpretations.

Robertson reminds me of something my father used to say about a lot of these TV ministers. "He's so Heavenly minded he's no earthly good."

Pat needs to join Carter and Ford in the old fools home.<<<
Wherein Uncle Walter will interview them, after their Global Warming therapy.
I hope the crosstalk doesn't become too heated . . .

I'm a conservative but I must say that people like Robertson, Falwell, etc. give me the creeps. They way they mix their religious mindset with politics comes off like oil and water. Keep your faith where it belongs, internally guiding your decisions in life. The day to day trials and tribulations on the campaign trail are not the concern of God. Think about that for a second! Their conception of God is so limited. The all-knowing, all-seeing Lord almighty is telling Pat his thoughts on Iraq, the election, and the price of oil. Special Pat has the frequency of God's communication channel. It sounds more like schizophrenia than anything.

As an evangelical Christian I wished he would just shut his mouth about anything to do with this election until it is over. Nothing good can from it. Anyone who cares what he says is already voting for Bush.

Lest everyone forget...the war was a "cakewalk". It was faster than lightening and relatively casualty-free. If Bush said this to Robertson, he was right. The casualties have come post-war with the worldwide terrorist community and disgruntled baathists causing our guys grief. As soon as they are turned loose they will kick the asses of the "insurgents" and that will be that.

Robertson has got to be a Democrat plant. This move on his part is not unlike his unwise, divisive comments in the wake of 9-11. Didn't Robertson used to work with Jimmy Carter?

I'm conservative and a practicing Catholic, but guys like that ("Holy Rollers" as I like to call them) are creepy.
I have no problem with folks like that having ministries. I have no problem with them discussing politics in their ministries (the issues, the candidates, etc).
But they routinely cross the line, I agree with you. This is only the most recent example. Jokers like that have an exaggerated sense of self importance and a big mouth - traditionally a bad combo! :-)

Oh, look who it is with yet another scornful hit piece.
If Bush said this he was right. The war was a cakewalk. We have been in the postwar phase for awhile now and it's been more difficult than expected.
This has made Paula and the Democrats very happy, but is temporary.
Next war we promise to be careful to destroy the enemy, injure no civilians, protect antiquities, guard public works and be sure our soldiers are polite to all prisoners.

Notice that there's a noticeable difference in what he says this time-
His story seems to have evolved a bit. It's a fairly normal thing for someone who is either delusional or lying to do.

Let me understand this. Are you saying that Pat Robertson is a liar or that President Bush is a liar?
I'm confused, which isn't unusual.
