Kerry tours Florida asking for early votes 'Get your friends to go out and vote starting '

PALM BEACH, Florida (AP) -- Florida voters get to cast their ballots for president beginning Monday, and Democrat John Kerry planned to spend all day asking for their votes.

"You have got to start voting tomorrow," Kerry told thousands of Floridians in Pembroke Pines on Sunday. "And you've got to get your friends to go out and vote starting tomorrow."

While asking for votes, Kerry also planned to lay out his prescription for avoiding another flu vaccine shortage like the one this season.

Kerry wants manufacturers to report vaccine supplies to public health officials, encourage the donation and public buyback of surplus vaccines, establish a reserve of the inoculations and encourage more drug makers to produce the vaccine.

Florida, the 2000 battleground that decided the election by 537 votes, remains a battleground this year. President Bush planned a campaign trip Monday as well. (Showdown state Florida)

In polls taken after the first presidential debate, one shows Bush ahead and others show the candidates running neck-and-neck. A clear victory by either candidate offers 27 electoral votes and a chance to avoid the recount that decided the 2000 election. (Special Report: America Votes 2004, the polls)

Early voting was introduced in Florida after the prolonged 2000 ballot count. Rep. Kendrick Meek, chairman of Kerry's Florida election effort, said the extra time should help the state find and solve similar problems that might arise.

"If I have a problem, I will have 15 days to resolve the issue versus two hours on Election Day," Meek said.

Democrats said they have 46,000 volunteers mobilized to help get out the early vote, delivering a blizzard of phone calls and mail.

They also have no shortage of politicians and party officials imploring them to get to the polls. Besides the presidential candidates, Florida got

This really could backfire. There will be lots of people who put off voting from one day to the next because there's always tomorrow.

Yes, Democrats get the cigarettes, alcohol and crack cocaine ready for your friends so they will vote. And, don't forget to consult the pyschic hotline to make sure you know how your dead aunt and grandmother would vote and make sure their votes are counted as well.

'Get your friends to go out and vote starting '

I really hope that the dems do "go out and vote starting". Whatever the hell "vote starting is", let's make sure it starts on Nov. 3.

Sounds as though they're afraid of what might happen between now and Nov. 2 to sway voters to Bush.

Here's a thought: Mr Bush should talk about the space program and his forward looking proposals for it while campaigning in FL. It means a lot of jobs in that state. Kerry's record on space is not good. Mr Bush ought to talk this up.

Dan Rather just called Florida for Kerry. It's going to be a long three months.

The Communist News Network and the lefties (ie., Rather) are pulling out all the stops. They are desperate for Kerry to win.

I think the Dems want their constituents to vote now in states that have early voting, before they change their minds!

Why is Kerry still campaigning in South Florida? That should've been a lock for him months ago. It's a pretty bad sign if he still feels like he needs to spend time there.
