I'm going to try and get out today and do it--first day to vote here in CO. I'll try to report back later.
My wife did this morning. In Colorado, the early voting takes place at the DMV. Since she had to register one of our vehicles, and her "number" was a good 30 away, she went ahead and voted.
DMV had only processed 10 people in the time it took her to get through all 4 stations and ID checks etc. So I cant image that there were many people voting ahead of her.
I will go there this afternoon and do the same. After the lunch rush.
I'll vote 10 or 15 times between now and Nov 2.
We voted at 10:00 AM on the first day here in KS.
No one else was ahead or behind us, nor anywhere
in sight for that matter.

Encouraging sign, I'd say. People voting early are the
kind of people who plan ahead, or in this year, concerned
about problems on 02 Nov, such as registration issues,
lines, foul-ups, hostile DNC lawyer confrontations, etc.
Dems voting early are more apt to be doing so on the basis of:
"I need to act before I change my mind."
So vote early, and vote anyway (even if you live in a
"lost" or slam-dunk state) - the popular tally matters.
That is three California votes for Bush!

Hubby and I voted this morning, and were the only two people in the place, but we live in a little podunk town, so that wasn't very surprising. However, about 20 people had signed the register before us, so I think the turnout was pretty good so far.
It makes the old saw of "vote early and vote often" a whole lot less funny.
Pretty painless here in Tennessee - in Nashville anyway. I tend to agree, at least in theory, that this would favor Bush. I personally don't want to have to deal with the crazies I'd anticipate being in and around the polling places on Nov. 2nd. I heard a report today that nearly 10% of all of Tennessee's registered voters had already cast their ballots in just 3 1/2 days of early voting. Of course, Kerry has as much chance of carrying Tennessee as I do of winning the lottery and I've never bought a ticket
already voted for Bush ...absentee ballot.. since CA is not in play, I did not want to stand in line on 11/2
I am going to vote on Saturday.
2 Iowans by absentee ballot last week. We need 3999 more to go for the win we missed by 4000 in 2000!

I voted friday in anson co. NC. No lines, I did have to wait a few minutes, but only because it was lunch time and all but one person was out.
Several of us have. There was an earlier thread. Lots of lines.
My wife and I just got back from voting. We live in Boulder County, Colorado. It is a slow process, 30-35 minutes. The line went out the door, about 40 people in line and 12 voting booths.
The Colorado Secretary of State requires that voters present a picture ID, such as a drivers license. I told the fellow checking IDs that I very much approved of the requirement. He agreed.
A poll worker told me that it has been steady all morning and into the noon time hour.
