Gov. Jeb Bush said Sunday he will not run for president in 2008 and defended his brother from critics who say the president refuses to acknowledge his mistakes.

The governor also denied a report that he knew of problems with a list of felons to be purged from the state's voter rolls months before it was discarded.

"I'm not going to run for president in 2008. That's not my interest," Bush told ABC's "This Week." "I'm going to finish my term."

Bush said he was not going to think about his next move until after completing his second term in 2006. In an Associated Press survey in August, more than a third of the state's Republican delegates said they favored Bush as the party's presidential candidate in 2008.

He'll skewer himself, IMO.

Besides, I'd rather have Tancredo in 2008.

Running in what party?

Tancredo has reached his zenith. He has zero chance of ever being elected to more than a house seat.

I think both of them would be tied but Jeb is definetly the better speaker. Plus he has ties to the Hispanic community which is probably going to determine elections in the near future. So I wouldnt rule him out. I am waiting for George P. I think he has a huge chance of becoming president in about 12-16 years IMHO!

I would like to see him run for President but think should wait till 2012. I don't think the nation as a whole would go for another Bush in 2008. It would be to risky for him. Instead I Would prefer for him to run for the U.S, Senate in 2006 against Bill Nelson and then possibly run for the presidency in 2012 or 2016 depending on the outcome of the 2008 elections. I believe he can beat Senator Nelson in 2006. This we can have 2 Republican Senators from Florida. I say 2 because Mel Martinez will win on Nov 2.

Giulianni was great at the convention, and the nice thing about him is that he is very articulate and argues his positions well, which is something that Bush, despite his great character and principles, is not good at doing. The points of concern with Giuliani are (1) he is not sound on social issues, and (2) he lost in NY to Hillary, so would he lose nationally against her? On the first, I would still support him so long as he didn't do anything to advance the liberal social agenda on abortion and promotion of homosexuality, and would not be adverse to pointing conservative judges.

And one thing I am doing this time is taking note of exactly WHO is standing with George W. Bush in this fight to save this country from the terrorists AND the screaming liberals on the left.

So far, I have quite a list of people I WILL NOT be supporting in 2008, starting with Chuck Hagel and Richard Lugar.

Both these guys dont have a chance to even run in the primaries. Dont know why they would bother. And I am right with you on the fact that they have definetly opened their fat mouths one too many times where they shouldnt have. Of course the MSM was just thrilled to carry their water for them.

Yep. I think Owens is the clearcut favorite for the 2008 nomination at this point. Four years is a long time though...

GULLIANI 2008

NO WAY WILL I VOTE FOR HIM FOR PRESIDENT!

Between him and Arnold they'll ban guns and meatgrind babies to no end.

Otherwise, he's ok.

Maybe this BushDoleBushDoleBushDole nonsense is finally coming to an end?

Any other Bushes lurking in the bushes? Time for a fresh breeze to blow through Washington.

Well, you must notice I didn't mention McCain; although I'd like to slap him at times, he has been right besides Bush, defending him on Iraq this entire election season.

That's MAJOR points for me.

Did he make the rounds of the caucuses like Frist, Pataki and Juliani did at the RNC? That is a harbinger of who wants to run in 2008!

You really think there is a chance that might happen?

Hope so. I'm tired of the Republican Party offering nothing more than Democrat Lite.
