ABC's interviewing North Vietnamese communists (partisans) to support Kerry's account is equal to Dan Rather relying on unauthenticated (forged) documents provided by an anti-Bush partisan. An analysis (similar to that of the CBS documents) needs to be made of what the Vietnamese "villagers" were actually asked, who did the asking, what did they say in their native language in response, and how was it translated. Also, to what extent does it appear that their answers were previously prepared rather than spontaneous (after all they were being "asked" to recall events from 35 years ago). To the extent that the tapes used by ABC can be reviewed along these lines would be very helpful.
I wonder who provided the interpreters, the Vietnamese government?
O'Neill kicked Koppel's mangy ass all over the stage and Ted seemed to be astounded at the thought that the Commies would do anything to held Jean Fraud. But he couldn't pull the scam off and couldn't handle O'Neill's objections to being set up.
Funniest of all was that the Vietnamese version matched NO ONE'S not even Jean Fraud's. What an inept performance ABC gave last night. If that is the best the RATmedia can do W wins next month.
Absolutely...
And if you or antone else watched the show or listened to the audio, O'Neill SLAUGHTERED Koppel (who was armed only with the bogus "VC witnesses") at every turn.
Good idea!
Are the original (unedited) Nightline ABC tapes availalble of these supposed interviews? Or only the leftovers that were aired - when the true translations could have been removed/modified/voiced-over?
