The following statement from John O'Neil, member of Swift Boat Veterans and POW's for Truth, concerns a news segment that aired on October 14th on ABC's Nightline with Ted Koppel. "While I have a tremendous amount of respect for Ted Koppel and ABC News I was appalled to learn that ABC News would go to the lengths of traveling to Vietnam to interview three Viet Cong communists in yet a third attempt by ABC to corroborate John Kerry's version of the events that took place on February 28th, 1969.
"I would only ask the American people: 'Who do you trust more, three members of a communist regime that tortured and killed our American troops or a group of more than 280 highly decorated American veterans, who proudly served their country and are now responsible members of their respective communities.
"The number of veterans who support John Kerry's accounts of his military service would not fill one Swift Boat. But instead of sitting down to interview some of the 280 plus members of our Swift Boat organization, ABC News chose to travel to Vietnam taking extraordinary and highly suspect steps to find someone to corroborate John Kerry's story.
"ABC News Nightline has now dedicated three seperate programs to this one incident while ignoring John Kerry's now discredited Senate testimony that he spent Christmas in Cambodia, his receiving a purple heart after all three of the officers required to approve such an issuance rejected his application, or his constantly changing account of the circumstances surrounding his remaining medal, a bronze star.
"Further, one has to wonder why ABC News will not address the serious questions as to why John Kerry only received an honorable discharge through the act of then President Carter, seven years after his discharge, and had to have all of his military citations reissued, on the same day, when he became a United States Senator in 1985. And, finally, why has Nightline found it of no interest to permit any POWs to come on their program to explain why they believe John Kerry betrayed their nation, caused them to be incarcerated for an additional two years and caused them tremendous additional hardship and suffering."

It's up to Kerry to defend himself, of course. But as one of the few news organizations with the skill and strength to help voters evaluate what the candidates are saying to serve the public interest. Nope...no bias here! Nevermind that ABC consistently runs with pro-Kerry stories and spikes every pro-Bush story it gets. Nope...no bias here! Move on, citizen!

I hope there's more than one October surprise to help bring down JfnK. Photos of him meeting with the communists in Paris during Vietnam would be good. It'd also be good to hear him droning on while his traitorous buddies voted to assassinate a U.S. congressman.
Of course, I'd settle for a slam-ad that features his now-discredited claim that he was in Cambodia over Christmas. I'd also settle for a more detailed slam-ad that points out that his claim of voting for "600 tax cuts" is pure Bravo Sierra. And I'd give my left nut if we could run a slam-ad with video of Kerry wagging his finger angrily, saying, "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM??"

After all Viet Cong communists were Kerry's shipmates too. But of course. Where else would Kerry be regarded as a "war hero" (sic).

The reason ABC news won't have any of the POWs on Nightline, Is that the MSM wants Kerry to win, And they'll achieve this by any costs.
To: Jeff Head
Has this been proven ? I've seen the research and it implies this, but I haven't seen anything that proves it.

O'Neill's not hiding a thing. A number of American POWs have talked about having Kerry's Senate testimony shoved in their face during their imprisonment in North Vietnam by their monkey captors.
Please explain this statement of yours:
Boy do I hope I have to eat the words I've typed here, discouraging freepers from running with the John Kerry 'bad paper' rumors.

The very fact that it is possible for a Presidential contender warrants extensive investigation and research...that's my point. The MSM is not doing that.

Has anyone verified the date on the grave site shown in the video clip from Nam?
From what I can tell the date looks like:
4. 512. 1969
I only observed the video clip once, and the wife who said her husband was killed, said it was on the same day, that is why she can remember the date.

I'm thankful that Kerry is running.
But for that, I'd never have gotten truth (well, at least more trustworthy accounts)
of some things from the Vietnam era I didn't fully understand.
Such as:
1. Kerry being a fraud. The Christmas in Cambodia and "magic hat" would be
comedic relief, but for the sad fact they were props used to propel a weasel-man
into the US Senate and a Presidential nomination.
and
2. Finding out what "Winter Soldier" was about. And that the investigative services
of some of our military (US Navy for sure, IIRC) investigated the "witnesses"
and couldn't get them to verify their testimony about "atrocities",
even with extensive offers of immunity.
IF Kerry is elected (May The Almighty Forbid It!), I know at least for four
years I can say "Don't Blame Me!".
