O'Neil is taking Ted Koppel apart right now and Koppel is trying to keep him from talking. this is real good.
It's simply incredible to me how ted didn't take the effort to -- or is so blinded by prejudice he can't -- connect the logic dots from his starting point, through kerry's book, to the consequences of his approach.
It's like the old media, without cause, jettisoned their heat shields (truth as the measure of good reporting) and are on a mission to burn up in re-entry from a very high and deteriorating orbit.
It appears this VC guy was born in 1916, so he would be in his 50s in 1969. Hmmm....
The world has changed and haven't. They're dinosaurs and Koppel is one of them. For decades, they were able to shape public perception of the news without challenge and they not only got soft, they got deluded as well. Now they can't find their way out. The sun has found them and all they can do is flail around blindly. Koppel was actually easy pickings for O'Neill who has had to face hard realities every day of his life.
Well said!
I'm delighted that organizations like the Media Research Center (is that their name?) and the Internet are keeping watch and making waves. I believe a lot of media moguls' boats are being unrecoverably swamped before our eyes and that it's possible the alphabet networks themselves are not going to survive in their current form.
The best plan is to find their weakest point and hammer it till they collapse. It's happening.
I wrote on another thread that after Bush wins, I expect the old media to spend lots of air time examining topics like these, based on a review of the Swift Vets' efforts, presented as if they believed the Swiftees all along:
- "Bush's Surprise Win"
- "How Kerry Lost the Presidency"
- "Why Kerry Was Unfit To Command"
It's the Sean Penn standard of Journalism.
i think Ted just earned himself a part in Team America: World Police II.
His character can run around saying "I've been to Vietnam, I know some peasants." Ad nauseum.
They forgot to bury the guy for nearly a year... But they remember what he was wearing.
How stupid are these ABC people. The grave is marked for either December 1st or January 12th. The dates on the grave totally discredit the story.
Being female, I noticed something else. Did these Vietnamese peasants, living in rice paddys look terribly well dressed to you? No wide brimed hat. The old lady's pants were not only new-black (when you wash black it greys) but they had flared legs--no old style pegs, and the tops were pressed and color coordinated. Vietnamese govt making sure that their peasants were at the height of fashion? Not looking opressed?
Of course the MWM has a love affair with the communist dictatorships. US=bad then US enemies=good, trustworthy.
I do wish O'Neill had been a little calmer and asked Ted whether he believed that the Viet Kong with a govt rep in tow were a good source of reliable material.
Oh, please don't tell me Teddy has a Pom!!! I would have thought he had a poodle or a cat.
g
Rush talking about Nightlies right now.
Yup, Mr. Koppel, you've been had. I really don't understand why you did not interview a few Swift Boat Vets too. The MSM has been taking a lot of hits lately; unfortunately many of them deserved. Credibility is a newsperson's greatest asset. Without it, a newsperson morphs into into being merely a scandal monger or a mouthpiece for a political party or interest group.
Soon we'll see Floppel with his own talk show, like Springer & Povich...
Again, ignoring the post.
But now an attack on the watercooler!! This is starting to sound like dim trolls, dim trolls, dim droll trolls. Attack messengers, attack their water cooler. It'll probably be what I'm driving next.
And all these attacks without ever seeing any of "us". I suppose that is why attack posts are so easy to do.
What is it with you guys, can't resist saying something bad about people rather than addressing the post.
You said you learned something about O'Neill and Koppell, but did you get the specifics it takes to win a debate (at the watercooler)? Opinions don't count, impressions aren't very helpful, three of four soundbites don't carry far.
I'm sorry, Koppel still has his hairpiece and SEG and there were no Dims converted today to the "right side". A guy with a hairpiece should be easy to scalp, and I know O'Neill was the man to do it. But what you guys said about last night won't get the Dims to see much further than their own prejudices.
That means it's up to you. You are the only one fit for command.
Frankly, I don't even know why you bother with us.
And the next time you're at the office, will you please shoot that watercooler?
Thankyou.
Interesting timing on your post as I just finished watching, online, the "Nightline" program with O'Neill. Guess where I got the link? (I didn't see the program in real time on TV.) Okay, here's the answer. A FReeper provided it. Another FReeper provided the transcript. Just another way in which I find FR so useful for educating and arming myself.
I do what I can to get all the info I can to influence folks politically. It happens that I live in a very liberal state and it's difficult to find folks who even want to come out of their democrat hideyholes to talk reasonably, but I do what I can.
How can you say I (and Bonaparte) attacked you? I commented on your attitude. That's not attacking you.
As for this, "and there were no Dims converted today to the "right side", I've read a lot of posts today and last night about people who work in an office with liberals (I don't), and who've talked to their liberal neighbors, etc., and said these libs have made up their mind to vote for Bush because of kerry's "performance" at the debate. So I have to disagree with the claim that no dims were converted today.
Peace.
