check the dates!

Directly from the Sundance Channel program guide schedule.

FORD TRANSIT
Documentary
Filmmaker Hany Abu-Assad provides a rare chance to listen to conversations among West Bank Palestinians as they take a ride in a Ford mini-van shuttling between Ramallah and Jerusalem. Their driver is Rajai Khatib, a charismatic rebel adept at negotiating - and sometimes avoiding - the many roadblocks and checkpoints that make such daily commutes laborious. Aboard for the ride are a lawyer, a filmmaker, the mother of a suicide bomber and a local politician, who offer divergent views on President Bush, Yasser Arafat and the possibility of peace. TVPG (AC, AL) CCAP/Stereo/Letterbox/Subtitles (2002 ) Color (69 mins)
October 25 2004 09:00PM; October 26 2004 12:00PM; October 30 2004 10:00AM

THE PRESIDENT VERSUS DAVID HICKS
Documentary
The father of a young Australian who embraced fundamentalist Muslim ideals, and came to be labeled a "unlawful combatant" by President Bush, retraces his son's journey from Adelaide to Guantánamo Bay in this compelling documentary by Curtis Levy. With excerpts from letters to family and friends and interviews with a former Guantánamo detainee and a Northern Alliance commander, this disturbing and thought-provoking film contemplates the transformation of a naïve horse trainer and rodeo rider into an anti-Semitic acolyte. TV14 (AC, AL) (2004 ) Color (81 mins)
October 12 2004 07:00PM

UNCOVERED: THE WHOLE TRUTH ABOUT THE IRAQ WAR
Feature
Filmmaker Robert Greenwald, creator of the 2000 election expose Unprecedented, considers the Bush administration's case for the Iraq War and finds among the alarmist rhetoric little supporting evidence to back it up. Revealing news clips and interviews with intelligence veterans - including Scott Ritter, Clare Short and Joseph Wilson - make the case that the Bush administration misled the world with dubious statements, empty innuendoes and unchallenged untruths. "A devastating analysis" - Senator Edward Kennedy. TVPG (AC) Stereo (2004 ) Color (56 mins)
October 05 2004 07:00PM; October 11 2004 12:00PM; October 17 2004 08:00PM; October 27 2004 08:00AM; October 27 2004 10:00PM

WITH GOD ON OUR SIDE: GEORGE W. BUSH AND THE RISE OF THE RELIGIOUS RIGHT IN AMERICA
Documentary
Since the 1950s, politicians who ignored the growing power of evangelical voters did so at their own peril. In this two-part documentary, director David Van Taylor and producers Calvin Skaggs, Charles Schuerhoff and Ali Pomeroy place the character and presidency of George W. Bush in context with a brief history of the religious right's journey from isolation to influence. Interviews with leading evangelists and rare film clips provide a revealing glimpse into recent American history and the personal story of the 43rd President of the US. TVPG (AC) (2004 ) Color/B&W (100 mins)
October 18 2004 07:00PM; October 19 2004 01:00PM; October 24 2004 03:00PM; October 29 2004 12:30AM

I know, I know...........

I'm glad I hadn't finished proof reading my letter to my State Delegate complaining about the email from the Virginia Democratic Party encouraging dems to contact the 2 Sinclair stations in VA.......because now I'm going to add the question about where is the outrage against Sundance.

I know I'll get an answer from him, I probably won't like it, but I know I'll get a response of some sort. He happens to be my attorney!!!!!

Brit's comment is what made me curious. Thought I'd share. And when do you plan to share it? I find no reference anywhere as to Brit's comment, so would you please repost and inform us?

Brit made a comment tonight (I believe in the grapevine segment) concerning Sundance Channel. His comment was only significant to me in that he mentioned it, and it didn't seem so much quote-worthy, as merely significant that he mentioned it at all. I don't know if they will replay Special Report tonight, what with the debate going on...

Wow, it gets worse and worse! Here are more you missed

UNPRECEDENTED: THE 2000 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION Feature As the pundits said repeatedly on election night 2000, "It all comes down to Florida." However, as documented in this film by Joan Sekler and Richard Ray Perez, incompetence and petty corruption were altering the final tally from the moment the Sunshine State's polls opened. Citing a suspicious pattern of irregularities, injustices and purges of African Americans from the voter records, the filmmakers present a provocative piece of advocacy journalism that -- contrary to suggestions to "just get over it" -- prompts outrage. TVG CCAP/Stereo (2002 ) Color (50 mins) October 01 2004 07:00PM

BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE Feature Controversial, outrageously provocative and often grimly humorous, Michael Moore's Academy Award-winning personal exploration of America's love affair with firearms takes deadly aim. Visiting banks that offer free rifles to new customers and discount stores with readily available ammunition, Moore takes his first-person crusade across the country to reveal the primal fears and powerful forces that ensure guns remain ubiquitous. "Terrific ... A rambunctious, disturbing, and often hilarious autopsy of American gun culture" - Time. R (AC, AL) CCAP/Stereo/Letterbox (2002 ) Color (119 mins) October 23 2004 09:00PM; October 26 2004 07:00PM

One thing Americans are getting tired of is the courts. Liberal courts are becoming a determent to our basic way of living. This action may be a turning point for the power of the court if they try to block the showing of this documentary.

I think they're also showing Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 911, but of course "media bias" is only "bias" when it favors Republicans.

I mentioned on another thread that I'm an old Southern Civil War Republican whose ancestors have hated the Democrats longer than most other FReepers have. Why can't we hang slavery and secession around the liberals' necks? Sure, the Confederocrats won't like it, but too bad.

I wish General Sherman were around today to shoot these sons of *******.

You're welcome Grammie. It's my first vanity. It reminds me of my first pottery, in third grade. Mrs. Fitz. Really. I made my mom a tiny little vase. It was created with what I thought at the time would be bright colors. Once it was fired, it was sort of a greenish/brown volcano shaped blob, with no apparent reason to be, other than mom's child sculpted it for exactly her...

Well, Grammie, I don't want to get teary eyed here, but it is my first vanity and all...

Tonk, THANK YOU for the links to the new ads. The second one made me tear up and get a lump in my throat. Those fine men deserve respect, honor, thanks, and endless gratitude for what they sacrificed for this country, for us. There is no comparison between these brave men and The Man Who Would Be President, none whatsoever. John Kerry is a POS (pardon my French).

I just heard that the UN "Oil for Food Scandal" documentation has revealed that Scottie's Iraq "sugar daddy", the man who was funding a movie to which Ritter was somehow connected, is HIMSELF a recipient of the oil "vouchers" from Saddam. So this documents the 180 Ritter did regarding Saddam's removal..........although many of us here at FR were on to it years ago!! ^)
