Chechen terrorists probed

By Bill Gertz

THE WASHINGTON TIMES

U.S. security officials are investigating a recent intelligence report that a group of 25 Chechen terrorists illegally entered the United States from Mexico in July.

The Chechen group is suspected of having links to Islamist terrorists seeking to separate the southern enclave of Chechnya from Russia, according to officials familiar with intelligence reports.

Members of the group, said to be wearing backpacks, secretly traveled to northern Mexico and crossed into a mountainous part of Arizona that is difficult for U.S. border security agents to monitor, said officials speaking on the condition of anonymity.

The intelligence report was supplied to the U.S. government in late August or early September and was based on information from an intelligence source that has been proved reliable in other instances, one official said.

A second U.S. official said the report is being investigated, but said it could not be determined whether the group of Chechens actually entered the country, as the intelligence source reported.

"We don't know whether or not that report is true," this official said. A spokesman for U.S. Customs and Border Protection confirmed ...

Didn't these Chechen terrorists also target a hospital? Plus...you have the opera house.

Yeah...watch the schools, but I'd also watch movie theatres, hospitals, hotels, etc.

Do you have to have any ID to pass through the Canadian/US border?

ROFL What a maroon. Some "intelligence source!" What, he thinks Northern Mexico..that hotbed of luxury..is their destination?! My God. We're in deep trouble, folks.

You must be kidding me if you think this country would have any trouble whatsoever in the logistics of securing our borders.

Our softest targets include my five year old. And my greatest fear is that nothing will be done (no matter how much I nag and bit*h and "visit" the school) until it happens somewhere. Imagine my guilt as I weep and hope it's somewhere else.

God help us all. And even though I'm voting for him still, damn Bush for siding with V. Fox and the PanAmericans. But is there any doubt Jean F. would be worse?

"Fears of an attack on American schools also were raised by the recent discovery in Iraq of a computer disk containing data showing the layout of six schools in the United States, including districts in California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New Jersey and Oregon.

Officials believed the disk may have been part of a terrorist plot. However, FBI officials said on Friday that there did not appear to be a terrorist threat connected to the computer disk."

More stupidity from the "adults." If they blow up our kids, every man and woman who has been screaming about this issue for years will go to Washington and personally manhandle our politicians. It won't be pretty. They'll be torn limb from limb. Let's hope their corporate sponsors have given them boltholes as part of the deal to keep the cheap labor flowing, or they'll be history.

Wonder if they were all shot dead immediately as they stepped one inch over the border.

Have a look at the book "Alien Nation" by Peter Brimelow, a Forbes columnist among other things. Basically there is less than 500 miles of border shared with Mexico that is navigable by foot or pickup truck. That part could easily be sealed.

About those 25 (Muslime) Chechans coming in from Mexico - ping.

BTW: Do you know who is driving your kid's school bus?

'It could not be learned whether the reported infiltration is related to <>the recent Education Department warning to school officials to examine security in the aftermath of the attack last month by pro-Chechnya Muslim terrorists on a school in Russia, in which more than 300 people were killed and some 700 wounded.'

If the story is true and a Belsan like event happened in the US I think it would be pretty clear what would happen. The people would rise up against the politicians no matter the political standing, and there would be hell to pay.

Would this be a UFO alien kind of probe as heard on Art Bell/George Noury's Coast to Coast?

This doesn't make sense. Why would Chechan terrorists go through all the trouble to come over here? If they are really fighting for their homeland they would attack Russia again...

"OK how? 22,000 miles you tell me how."

First of all, there are countless thousands of Americans who would gladly accept a job securing our borders, and some of the mega billions our government wastes on make-work b.s. jobs could be shifted to this program. As many as we need, we sign them up, train them, and put them in place. Combine this with the support of unmanned drones which can monitor the areas of the border where it is vulnerable, and communicate with the personnel on the ground. Then, most importantly, you thump the hell out of the first wave of would-be intruders that challenge the new system, serving notice to all the others that the game has changed. And once the word is around, this chore will be relatively manageable and effective. But of course, you would worry what liberals would say about all of it. But we sure as hell wouldn't be sweating out these terrorists, and we sure as hell wouldn't be sweating out an election against one of the weakest and most vulnerable opponents in history.
