WHO won the debate? After completely misreading last week’s presidential clash, I will spare you my call. But it seems inarguable that George W. Bush was not the same candidate last night he was last week. He was prepared, pumped up and enthusiastic, even though his trademark verbal solecisms kept getting in the way (yes, he said “Internets”).
Mind you, John Kerry was superb — for a while. He was at his best, most concise and most pointed in his summary of the case against Bush’s conduct of the Iraq war. Indeed, his handling of the matter was better, I thought, than in last week’s debate because there was something about the looser town-hall format that brought the argument down to human scale. “I do believe Saddam Hussein as a threat,” he said at the beginning of the debate. “I always believed he was a threat. Believed it in 1998 when Clinton was president. I wanted to give Clinton the power to use force if necessary. But I would have used that force wisely, I would have used that authority wisely, not rushed to war without a plan to win the peace . . . And Iran now is more dangerous, and so is North Korea, with nuclear weapons. He took his eye off the ball, off of Osama bin Laden.” Though I don’t agree with this line, it was well-stated and cogent. But when Kerry said of future Iraq-like conflicts that “we’re not going to go alone like this president did,” he gave Bush an opening for the most passionate and heartfelt moment in both debates Bush interrupted moderator Charles Gibson to fire back: “You tell Tony Blair we’re going alone.

That leads up to a point I have had rolling around in my head for a while now which was confirmed last night. All of the talking heads point out that the strength of the Democrats lies in domestic issues. This is simply not true.
The fact is, Democrats have a slight advantage, but it is in foreign issues. This is decidedly not because they have facts on their side, but rather because of the propaganda they have floating around and because of the willingness they have from the MSM to paint the Iraq War effort as a failure. The Democrats and the left in this country were under the mistaken notion that foreign policy was the strong point of this presidency, and they believed that if they somehow managed to undermine that, Bush would go down easily.
The problem, however, is that Bush has been far stronger domestically than anyone on the left would give him credit for being. In addition, the Democrats made the mistake of choosing the most liberal senator in Congress, a point which makes Kerry quite weak on domestic issues. His positions simply do not reflect what the average American believes in and wants from the government. His voting record largely contradicts that which he says he will do. On conservative issues, he has voted against issues that Americans want. On issues that would appeal to liberals, he has, for the most part, failed to show up to vote.
I read an article after the last debate that talked about how the President might have been sandbagging. I am thinking this could be true. He and his campaign know that the left and the MSM have muddied up the waters on foreign policy. He could afford to throw away that debate to give his opponent a little security. I personally have high hopes that the president might drive the final nail into the coffin in the next debate.
Bush owns the domestic issues on the table this election cycle.

I do not doubt your sincerity or the seriousness of the issue. I'm just reiterating Bush has said Kerry served honorably which certainly puts that issue off the table for him. If others decide to persue the issue then let it be, but I think the SBV have done their job very effectively and the unbiased media have covered the issue credibly.
The Swiftees can't be accused of being AWOL, or getting deferments. They were there - that makes what they say more important.
While lib chicks are great for sport f***ing, you certainly wouldn't want to marry one.
I knew about the Healthy Forests, but I think that can be emphasized more.
Kerry isn't too happy about labels. But if the shoe fits... Well let's just face it. He's a freaking die-hard liberal and everybody knows it.
I think the SBV ads are still effective, like a a constant base of fire attriting Kerry in selected battleground states.
In the meantime I would like to see Kerry get hit hard by Bush next week on abortion, gun-control and taxes, and I want to hear RR's line when Kerry protests: "any way you look at it, it is still that "L" word...LIBERAL.

The word LIBERAL scares the crap out of John Kerry. He instantly with vigor jumped on the innocent inclusion of the word in a sentence.
Bush et al must begin to include the word in every section of every speech. Liberalism is pervasive and the many aspscts need to be descrbed as such. Antiwar. pro government healthcare, pro trial lawyers, pro abortion, increased taxes,...... all are liberal and must be described as such.
Kerry had a look of fear when labeled a liberal.
Did Kerry pronounce "Jenjis Khan" correctly? Inquiring minds want to know.
She let loose with this shrill laugh that could only be called insane. Very chilling...
Sandbagging, Rope-a-dope, call what you want but Kerry is being dismantled piece by piece. I have a feeling that the final debate will be all about his 20 years record...Dubya jabbed him twice with...HE CAN RUN BUT HE CAN'T HIDE. Those punches hit Kerry hard in the gut and you could see the steam come out of him.
The beauty of this tactic is that by the time of the last debate, no amount of spin will be able to fix the record and the LIBERAL label will be indelible on November 2.
