the operative world there is LISTEN. When the debate was watched, Kennedy who looked better, won. Nixon sounded better because he probably had more substance. I'm a big Kennedy fan, but let's face it style over stubstance won that debate;
My point exactly this is no longer a radio society it's a TV society we hve become a visual society Kennedy understood this. The difference in media makes all the difference in how people are percieved. My father was in love with Kate Smith untill he saw her. That being said being smooth and having nothing to say (I have a plan)would not win it for me on the radio.
Thanks for defending my now tattered reputation (grin). But I do believe that W's substance came through to the *listener* who was aware of the current reality (about 5%). I'm very glad y'all believe W won, and I take the pajamahadeen consensus very seriously since you collectively slammed W's performance in the first debate, which I also listened to.
My point is that Kerry's *style* was superior in the audio only channel, the only one available (by choice) to me. He seemed constantly on the attack, Bush persistantly pushed to defense. Bush had better substance, but was weak in delivering it, and often omitted it all together.
Frankly, I think W phoned in his debate tonight. He could have done much better and really put this thing away. I'm so very glad y'all think that the TV performance was a slam dunk for W, but I didn't see that, I was just listening to the words.
