Chrissie's Meet the Press clip aside (which I didn't see and nobody can document), what in the hell are they talking about? I've NEVER heard nor read of Cheney or Bush talk of a connection between 9/11 and Iraq.
But if you say it often enough, everyone will "think" it's true.
"I didn't understand the snickering (Scarborough included) about Cheney saying he never said there was a connection between 9/11 and Iraq."
Why can they not make a distinction between a direct connection with the planning of 9/11 and terrorism in general? I'm not Einstein, but I can see the difference and the also see the larger picture of supporters of terrorism.
>I didn't understand the snickering (Scarborough included) about Cheney saying he never said there was a connection between 9/11 and Iraq. <
Chrissy is trying desperately to make news.He has tried at least 3 times in the last 60 days to misstate positions to manufacture a contoversy(Zell,Malkin and this)
I saw the Meet the Press quote on NBC after the debate.
VP Cheney mentioned that Iraq was in the middle of the area of the world where our terrorists come from.
Last time I checked Iraq was in the Middle East. The Middle East is where most terrorists come from.
The Cheney said Iraq did 9-11... is garbage.
It was nice seeing the Swift Boat ad playing in the background during the wrapup talk with Wonkette though.
Yes, John Edwards knew he couldn't lie anymore about how there was no connection between Iraq and Al-Qaeda so he shifted the argument to 'there was no connection between Saddam and 9/11'.
The snickering is misplaced, because the one who got it wrong was Edwards ... pretending there's not a tie when we have the fact that Saddam offered Osama Bin Laden safe haven in 1998, or the matter of this:

I can't explain the snickering, but allow me to put in my two cents here.
Nobody thinks Al Queda was plotted and carried out in Iraq. But Iraq was a huge oil rich Middle East nation, with a madman at the helm who was known to befriend anyone and everyone who hated America, and who was hell bent to use his country's oil wealth to develop nuclear weapons.
Was he on the verge of bombing New York in a few months? No, and nobody ever said he was. Was he within a few years of handing off nukes to Al Queda or similar groups to be deployed in our cities? Yes.
