Cheney won the debate hands down. Ifill was a good moderator. And if I'm not mistaken, breck boy never answered the second question - Would Saddam Hussein still be in power had John Kerry been President? The second part of the debate was just so much words, and was pretty much a wash. Much ado about old arguments, and no clear way to solve the problems.
Cheney's final statement was awesome, he looked directly
at the nation and spoke with conviction.
Edwards didn't make the case, he kept on with "the plans we have" and never gave a hint of what they were.
He cheated several times, once would be an oversight, more is indicative of his nature.
I did not see Cheney make that mistake once.
Thank God we have this man a heart beat away.
t.
Cheney won hands down.
"If you can't stand up to Howard Dean how can you stand up to Al Qaeda?"
Cheney looked Vice Presidential. Edwards looked like a lawyer....
The talking heads are bad mouthing Cheney. Ridiculous.
On to the debates: If you have been paying any attention, Cheney has facts, Edwards charming promises built around a few lines ("we'll hunt down and kill terrorists", "Kerry has been consistent", snide implications that Cheney and Halliburton are dirty, etc). If you don't know anything, its probably a close debate. Here's my reasoning: Cheney tells you hard he and GWB have been working and what's been accomplished. Edwards points out that things aren't perfect--they never are--and offers you rosy promises if you'll change. If you buy that sort of argument, you vote for the new guy every four years anyway. I don't think Edwards got any real traction with his smooth, folksy trial lawyer promises against anyone except those who like to be romanced or are already decided.
Humor note: Edwards plan to have lawyers self-police themselves on frivilous suits by committee. HAHAHA!
Cheney definitely held his own--more than his own on facts. Gwenn Iwill's questions were a bit loaded at the beginning, but they got more fair as time went on, and Cheney relaxed. I liked her moderating a lot better than Lehrer's.
BTW: Am I alone in thinking that Bill Kristol is gay?
Start Freeping the news channels with this Dick Cheney Kicked A** I can only do so much!! An you know the RATS are doing it!
/crazy typing psycho rant
Cheney wins, hands down. Edwards must have gotten awfully lucky to win any of his cases.
TWICE she DID NOT ANSWER!!!!
Here's my favorite line that was in effect a knock-out blow:
Cheney: "I preside over the Senate and am up there often and the first time I ever met you was up here tonight".
This moment reminded me of the Jack Lemmon movie where the captain asked him how long he's been aboard and he replies 18 months or something. LOL!
Hee hee hee
Cheney looked eminently presidential. The kid didn't impress me at all, he reminded me of a lawyer talking to a jury. All Dems are lying pukes who will say anything to get into power and then stick their hands into my pocket for more tax money.
I guess from Edwards' closing statement, his father must be catching up on re-runs of the Count on Sesame Street to brush up on his math skills.
DU had the MSNBC poll up to 78% Edwards win before the debate was over. LOL
Cheney wiped the floor with Edwards. That $600,000 that Edwards pocketed that would have gone into the medicare system, but Kerry voted for tax loopholes for lawyers. Edwards sat there with his face hanging out. 'Senator Gone', flip flops, etc.. Edwards looked and sounded like a used car salesman because essentially that's what he is.
DU had the MSNBC poll up to 78% Edwards win before the debate was over. LOL
Does anyone know where I can find a transcript or when they'll be available? Thanks in advance!
Edwards & Kerry had their clocks cleaned by the Vice President.
It wasn't even close, I was literally rolling after Edwards & kerry were challenged on so many things...
"you weren't even there to vote"
"This is the first time I've met you"
Too many quotes to list, but I'm sure someone will tallly them all for us.
Best one is the one in my tag line, when Cheney compared I'm an Internationalist and the invoking of UN permission to use troops that kerry whined about in 1970 to the Global Test Remark last Thursday.
game....set....match....
I can't wait until Friday.
Great job Mr. Vice President.
Regards,
Joe
