Recently, Football Fans for Truth learned that John Kerry claimed a significant achievement: qualifying and running the Boston Marathon. In an ESPN interview, he said, "I ran a marathon back in '80, something like that. Did the Boston Marathon." An ESPN analysis of his athletic achievements mentions that "[he] ran the Boston Marathon in the 1970s". In its November 2004 issue, Runner's World observes that John Kerry "[ran] the Boston Marathon in the '70s". In April 2002, John Kerry was the starter for the Boston Marathon. The Daily Free Press reports that Senator Kerry "lamented the fact that time constraints had made it impossible for him to run in the Marathon, which he participated in 20 years ago." In a conversation with a Iowa state senator, John Kerry said, "I remember my first Boston Marathon ... it's a great run." In a later article, ESPN tried to nail down the exact date and reported that "there's no official record of his feat, and his campaign did not provide further details despite repeated inquiries." The November issue of Runner's World reports that "he doesn't recall his time, and no official record exists".

He ran it before he didn't run it.
After he decided not to.
In the late '70s he was seen staggering to a finish in a 5km race near Boston.
This was posted earlier today. Check the thread with a search. Lots of info!
In his dreams.
"I never said I ran THE Boston Marathon. I have been very consistent on this. It is seared ... SEARED into my memory that what I in fact ran in was a 'marathon' race for the Senate, much of which occurred in Boston. That is what I was referring to, but I can tell you that I do have a PLAN to run THE Boston Marathon within the next twelve months."
You remember every marathon!
In his former life???
on October 17,I'm running a half marathon in Lowerll,Ma.(I havem
n't done a whole one since 1994). Any ideas for a t-shirt to pi$$ off the Kerry kool aid drinkers?
His friend George Butler has been photographing Kerry his whole life. There isn't one.
He has taken 6000!!! photos of Kerry. Kerry is the ultimate narsacist.
>"I ran a marathon back in '80, something like that. Did the >Boston Marathon."
Why do I picture Mr. Furley while reading this? A little snort while pulling up the pants and wiggling the nose, staring off into the distance.
Mystery solved. Turns out it was the Bostom marathon in Boston, Cambodia.
That is a great point.
Butler could attest as to whether Kerry qualified, ran, and finished the Boston Marathon.
Who's going to contact him for confirmation? (heh)
J Fn K would NEVER have missed the chance for a marathon photo op if he had really done one.
Of course he had to do at least three:
- the one to qualify for Boston.
- The "FIRST" (his word) Boston.
- the second (and supposedly subsequent) Bostons.
As sick as this is, it may be as imporant as or more important than the Swifts, because a lot of people can relate to it.
Wouldn't this make him, if elected, the first president ever to have run a marathon?
Superb satire, Captain. Loved it.
Kindest regards, /s/ Captain Pope
How about (if you've done one) "Marathon Finishers for the Truth"?
Or (insert # of marathons you have finished in both blank spaces):
"Have Run ___ Marathons, ___ more than John Kerry"
Or "Marathons finished: Bush 1, Kerry 0, Fantasy Kerry 3"
