WASHINGTON — A political action group of Vietnam War veterans that has attacked Democratic candidate John F. Kerry over his combat record has begun a new television and direct mail blitz, enriched by $3 million in contributions from two longtime financial supporters of President Bush and the Republican Party.
In filings with the Federal Election Commission last week, officials of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth disclosed two $1-million donations from Harold Simmons, a billionaire chemical and waste industry magnate, and another $1 million from oilman T. Boone Pickens. Both base their corporate empires in the Dallas area.
The mammoth donations are the latest evidence of how Republicans and Democrats are capitalizing on unlimited contributions flowing to 527 political action groups. The Swift boat veterans operation has been one of the most conspicuous examples of the growing use of tax-exempt independent groups by both parties as stalking horses to advance controversial ad campaigns.
Simmons and Pickens have provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations to GOP candidates and committees.
Pickens had already given the Swift boat group $500,000. And Simmons contributed more than $90,000 to Bush's two Texas gubernatorial races.

Way to go T. Boone. This man must be in a giving mood. He recently gave, Oklahoma State University over $30 Million to athletics, and to the school for education. He is alumni of Oklahoma State of course.

Won't matter. The majority of Soros money has been thrown into black holes of no value.
The swifties' ads have continuously cut to the bone.

They've been really successful in exposing Kerry's VVAW activities in what the media has been attempted to hide. Political ads and a mail blitz-they're doing great for a little 527. Helps to have the truth on your side.

I live in a solidly red state and didn't get to see first hand what the swift vets did. In addition since I hadn't read Unfit for Command, I had not fully appreciated the treachery, lying and treason of you know who. Recently, however, I heard one of the Swift Vets insiders speak. We got to see the ads...amazing stuff.
We really can't thank these guys enough...each one of them, the guys who conceived the idea, the guys who tracked down all the vets, the guys who put together the media, the guys who did the big financial hits, the tens of milliosn who put in $100, the guys like Rush and Hannity who covered it, and the list goes on and on.
I am deeply moved by how successful this was. I am also reminded very soberly that we came fairly close to electing someone who is literally treasonous and who was dishonourably discharged from the navy. I can't believe this piece of debris has gotten this fair.
I also am reminded - yes I know we all "know" it to be true - that there was a literal black out of teh Swifties by the major newspapers and the networks. Kerry's treason was one of the top stories of the last 50 years and they refused to cover it. A free society MUST have independent newspapers and TV stations who are willing to simply investigate. However, in America the MSM is just a branch of the DNC. I know we "know" this...but it is NOT an exaggeration. If you stop back and think about it...it is incredible and terrifying.
Thank God that the swift boats went around the MSM and gave yet more life to the other media....so all hope is not lost, freedom will live on. But it is terrifying to think that such a large percentage of our population has bought into the lies and that the MSM has completely and utterly sold out.
I think the Swift Boats movement is one of the most significant political events of my lifetime. In a sense, it is perhaps even more important than the re-election of GWB. Time will tell.
