Bob Schieffer is Biased For John Kerry and States It On CNN
CNN show Larry King Live

Posted on 10/04/2004 10:27:20 PM PDT by onyx eyes

Bob Schieffer did not even try to hide his bias for John Kerry, on CNN's Larry King Live, tonight, Monday, 10-04-04. Bob Schieffer began his talk with King by taking up for Dan Rather and by saying when asked what he thought about Rather's situation, that he thought it was terrible, that people were going to these lengths. Terrible that, the bloggers on the Internet were waging a Jhad -- Holy War -- on Dan Rather.

Bob Schieffer said that he was pleased that John Kerry is up in the polls. Schieffer said that he believed it was due to the fact that John Kerry had finally come out and told people where he stands. Schieffer grinned while telling how it is good that Kerry stood strong and stated his position, even though calling the war in Iraq a "diversion", may not sit well with some pople, at least everyone knows Kerry's position.

Last, before I turned the channel to another station, I hear Bob Schieffer telling Larry King that he agrees with the article by the New York Times about the whitehouse ignoring intelligence on the fuel rods found in Iraq, and Schieffer said it was an extremely "well-written" piece. Schieffer says that the article by NYT, makes a convincing case that the fuel rods were not meant for weapons of mass destruction. And that the "whitehouse" had ignored this fact.

Bob Schieffer is scheduled to be the moderator for the October 13th debate between President Bush and John Kerry.

Bob Schieffer is a lib...no doubt. But if we bitch and moan about him they will replace him with someone just like him (or worse). Better the devil you know than the devil you don't.

Frankly I don't see why any jounalist who is serious about not showing their bias gives interviews at all. I remember in the late 70's I could not tell what side of the fence Tom Brokaw sat on until he gave his infamous Mother Jones interview.

Pat Buchanan has said that a journalist cannot be unbiased. I agree with that. But they can and should do their best to not show their bias (Brinkly was the best at this).

For a journalist to give an interview to Larry King, or O'Reilly or whoever is just as good as throwing their credentials in the mud.

I agree 100% with the post by Trippin. It AMAZES me the type of ANTI-BUSH dirty tricks that are going on. I personally think the Repbublicans have been TOO nice. Bush has to really stress the points Kerry is flip-flopping on. He lets Kerry get away with TOO MUCH.

that right there -- Bob Schieffer talking with Jim Lehrer -- before the first presidential debate on Thursday night, seems totally illegal to me.

You make a very good point. They have no one to blame but themselves because they ageed to these rules.

Now if they try and get rid of him the MSM will take Rove et. al. to the woodshed.

BTW, the items in question are high-grade aluminum rods, not fuel rods.

I read the transcript. I found the part where he said the NYT piece was well-written and researched and I didn't have a problem with him giving that opinion.

I didn't find the part where you said "Bob Schieffer said that he was pleased that John Kerry is up in the polls."

I may have missed it. I want to believe you, but you'll have to find it and show me.

"what do you think of how these polls make the election now?" in the top-middle of the above transcript, posted by kcvl, Bob Schieffer remarks on his views of the election. Sorry, I apologize, for not having the text verbatim in my own original post.

I watched the interview and I read the transcript. I think you are off in your assesment that Schieffer showed bias for Kerry.

Schieffer was very careful to remain neutral. He did not join in on the "jihad" comments about bloggers... if fact, he basically said that cBS deserved it.

I thought Larry King's bias was obvious and his leading questions where about as partisan as it gets... but Schieffer attempted to remain as neutral as possible.

Nothing here that I would have gotten upset about (other then King's attempt to get him to say something bad about bloggers).

Now that the transcript is posted, maybe you can show us what he said that you felt was so out of line.

Another comment, from someone with the screenname NavySEAL F-16, took aim at Gov. Jennifer Granholm, a Democrat. "Granholm did promise Michigan for Kerry," it said. "I guess it's at any cost."
