She paid $587,000 in estimated federal income taxes for 2003, and $162,777 in estimated state and local income taxes. In addition, in April she paid $280,000 towards expected additional 2003 and 2004 federal tax liability.

Based upon the information received to date concerning her investments, her advisers estimate that in 2003, Mrs. Heinz Kerry had gross taxable income of approximately $2,338,000, consisting primarily of dividends and interest, and tax exempt interest income of approximately $2,777,000 from state, municipal and other public entity bonds

no, they wont raise her taxes silly, unless we have a wealth tax and or pass through her trusts or get rid of earnings.

Thats what kills me about this issue. And yes, bush should mention in the debate her taxes.

ITs time we have a discussion around how the rich dodge real taxes while middle class people who earn 200K get killed.

Who cares how much Mrs. Kerry makes. She isn't running for office. Everyone who is a Senator or President or running for it is beholden to someone financially. It's the nature of the game. Does it matter if its your wife or Wal-Mart? And do I really need to see someone's spouses tax returns to assess where they stand on an issue?

It goes to the issue of hypocrisy. Mrs Heinz is a player, a nasty player at that, yet she pays federal income taxes at rates 50% less than I do.

And if you don't understand that, a village is missing the idiot or you a lefty in sheeps clothing.

The point is, her taxes won't be raised. The Dems always scream about raising taxes on the rich but as soon as the rates for rich people go up they do what anyone would do, shelter more of it. It's the amazing hypocrisy that is at issue. By the way, if someone got their wealth legally there is nothing obscene about being rich.

I just fail to see how the issue of who pays more/less taxes among obscenely rich people is a good one for us Republicans.

It may come as a shock to you but most Republicans ARE NOT RICH!!! We would love to be... we dream one day we will be. So please stop perpetuating the Dem notion that the Republican party is just a party of rich people. Most of the insanely rich people are Democrats, IMHO.

I just fail to see how the issue of who pays more/less taxes among obscenely rich people is a good one for us Republicans. Especially when her taxes will be raised.

See my Post 14.

Her INCOME TAXES will be raised if Kerry gets elected.

Her $550 million wealth will remain tax free.

For 2003, John F. Kerry, living a $550 million lifestyle, was going to pay less 2003 Federal taxes than I was on his first Form 1040 filing.

Does that put me in your "obscenely rich" category?

Yet, Kerry has the gall to claim that my taxes need raising because I am one of "the wealthiest Americans".

well since Kerry AND HIS WIFE...during and after the primaries, went out demanding that their opponents release their tax filings....both husband and wife....then they should answer to the same.

Especially since Kerry is running for President and blasting the rich and saying their families live a life of privilege.

I imagine you don't have a problem with the fact that Kerry won't release all of his military records as well...

What should concern everyone about her taxes is first of all the fact that she continues to keep them private. The Bush family, as tradition has it, releases ALL of their tax information. This shows the world that they abide by the laws of this nation.

Teresa, on the other hand, hides everything but the first two pages of her income tax paperwork - revealing only the bottom line (so to speak). What we want to see is just exactly how she pays so little with so many assets. She pays a lower percent of her income than most or all of us in here - and that's bullshit. Secondly, her foundations tend to fund extreme left-wing causes, many of which are anti-American in their goals. The fact that she continues to hide her methods of sheltering assets as well as refusing to show her donations speaks volumes about where her money goes. We don't need anyone in the White House who feels we are so far beneath them that they can't put all of their cards on the table. THEY WOULD BE WORKING FOR US - NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. SHE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THAT, AND NEVER WILL.

Lastly, Teresa has essentially PURCHASED a presidential candidate. As possibly becoming the first b_tch in a Kerry presidency (spit) through simple quid pro quo she is obviously owed something by Kerry should he become president. Remember she isn't from the US? We don't know enough about her motives - or who it is that she may also be in league with - and it is our RIGHT to know these things prior to the elections. Should she continue this game of hiding her 1040, the voters should express their disdain for her appropriately. A vote for Kerry/Heinz/Edwards is a vote for Communism. All who vote for them do not deserve the rights inherent with being an American. They deserve to live in a communist garden spot like Cuba, North Korea, China, or Vietnam.

You gotta problem with that???

Muni bonds have an implicit tax rate John. They earn a lower return pre tax. The implicit tax rate varies, but is around surprise, surprise, 28% or so. Mrs. Heinz-Kerry is a self absorbed eccentric uninformed and confused nutter, with a more than a bit of the shrew in her, but this one is a bum rap.

Massachusetts has a checkoff line to pay additional taxes voluntarily. I know that because I file in Mass along with several other NE states. Neither Jhengis John nor Teresa checked the box. HYPOCRISY writ large Torie.

"....I have an original 1913 Income Tax Code. It is about 35 pages in an approximately 3'x6' hardcover booklet..."

In the late '50's, early '60's, my tax return consisted of a single computer punch card with one page or less of instructions. It required approximately 5 minutes to complete which included attaching a stamp. Those were the old,old days.

I said, the first time these numbers came out, what a lousy return on investment and 5 million/year isn't enought income to support their lifestyle.

Maybe Massachussets isn't their favorite charity. It certainly wouldn't be mine. Mrs Heinz Kerry gave away about 5 million in charity donations. As I said, a bum rap.

I had wondered if her real motive in not releasing her tax returns was the possibility that she essentially paid no taxes despite a 9- or 10-digit net worth.

This would also explain why she has stated why she will not release anything else other than the 2 pages of her 1040 before the election, since the 1040 will NOT account for the monstrous gross income and subsequent write-offs under certain scenarios.

Your opinion, I don't share it. Take a peek at John Kerrys charitable contributions and then get back to me. Try the ZERO ones first.

You got that right. Jokes on the IRS though, I don't pay federal income tax. One income, three kids, and below median salary and I get it all back.
