DEM FLASHED 'WRITE' STUFF AT DEBATE (KERRY PULLED OUT A BLACK PEN?)
New York Post ^ | 10/04/04 | GERSH KUNTZMAN

October 4, 2004 -- Was John Kerry trying to pull something at the debate last week?

That question was burning up the Internet yesterday after a slo-mo review of the footage showed the Massachusetts senator taking an object out of his right pocket before the first question.

Was it a cheat sheet — as some conservative bloggers claimed — or was it something innocuous?

Either way, it would violate the debate rules agreed to by both campaigns: "No props, notes . . . or other tangible things may be brought into the debate."

Many blogs offered links to the "Pocket-gate" footage. One, INDC Journal, even posted frame-by-frame stills purporting to show Kerry pulling out a notecard and placing it onto the podium.

But the mystery was solved when The Post reviewed a Fox News Channel feed from Thursday's debate: Kerry pulled out . . . a black pen.

That's a good view of it - that is NOT what your hands do when you're holding a pen. This is NOT A PEN, folks.

Why is the NYP doing this??

All I'm saying is we might have seen some of the "fake" video clips which purposely added paper to Kerry's hand. This is according to Drudge on his radio show last night. We need to be sure we have the original video clips to study.

"Well, conceivably a glint of light off of a shiny pen could look like a line. . ."

The 'frame' shows Kerry's hand; extended in open grip - with white showing in line with his extended fingers.

I also thought that the fact he was smiling and nodding an awful lot during most of the debate was awfully weird. Any magician would smile while doing sleight of hand movements like moving an object from a breast pocket, down to his waist out of view of the audience, behind the podium.

Is there anything that can be done to F'n about this?

That photo montage was hilarious! Can you get it to cable? Talk to Smith.

A pen? Do they think we're f***ing stupid?

A pen in the shape of index cards?

If Kerry is right-handed (does anyone know?), I doubt he would reach in with his left hand to pull out a pen.

In the debate you'll notice he is taking notes using his right hand

They need to get David Copperfield or David Blaine on this slight of hand trickery. Heck even Penn& Teller will be able to poke holes through the "black pen" cover-up.

Absolutely not a pen. Why is Fox and the New York Post letting us down?

To answer your question - yes, they do think we are stupid and yes, they are also trying to pull one over on us so that they can later smirk at how impotent we are at being able to get MSM coverage on this. It's an in-your-face type of tactic which perfectly suits Lockhart, Leheinous and the whole slimy crew.

Remember Clinton in his HoChi Minh pajamas while visiting a downed airman's grave in Viet Nam?

If it was that thick, the question becomes was it a Blackberry or other PDA capable of displaying text sent by cellphone signal.

Why did he pull out a pen? Was he going to write on his hand?

Yes, I have noticed that most of Fox News just reports what everyone else is reporting. No difference. They are dwelling on Kerry and reporting the same stupid polls. With just as much glee, I might add.

Oh well.

Oh, well, what? You've seen the close-ups. Kerry comes around the left of the podium, reaches deep inside his jacket and pulls out what appears to be a card or a folded piece of paper, which is seen again just before he lays it down. Pens don't look like that. And black pens don't look like small folded white cards. They are two different things.

If Fox WOULD SHOW THIS FRAME over and over, it would show the lies of the NYPost and even children would see the cover up. This is CLEAR....NO PEN!!!!

I APOLOGIZE IF THIS WAS ALREADY MENTIONED, BUT WHAT GOES OUT MUST COME BACK IN. ANY VIDEO AT THE END OF THE DEBATE? MAY BE BETTER QUALITY OF HIM SNAGGING THEM AND PUTTING THEM BACK IN HIS POCKET.

His quick and confident answers says he knew the questions. I don't care how smart you are. When you are asked a question, there is a delay for your brain to process the information; hence Bush'es pauses.
