Democrats Fear 'October Surprise'
AP News - from Tampa Bay Online ^ | Oct 2, 9:56 PM EDT | TOM RAUM

WASHINGTON (AP) -- In the presidential campaign's closing weeks, Democrats are bracing for an "October Surprise," an event so dramatic it could influence the election's outcome. The capture of Osama bin Laden, for instance.

It's part of American political lore: the party out of power worries about a last-minute surprise engineered by the party in power. Now that October has arrived and the election is just a month away, speculation is rife among Democrats that President Bush and political mastermind Karl Rove have some tricks up their sleeves.

"I assume that it will be something," said House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California. "We have to be ready for that."

Oh...horse pucky! October surprises come from either party irrespective of their being in power.

What in the world did they think RatherGate was?

In any case, they're worrying about the big bertha artillery round that all campaigns have. You've got to have a number of rounds to fire during a campaign. And you've got to save some really good rounds for the closing days.

It only makes sense.

These aren't surprises, but they are two things that the Dems are not looking forward to in October:
  1. Saddam goes on trial
  2. Free elections in Afghanistan

Doesn't matter..... they hate President Bush. OBL could turn himself in and it would still be Bush's fault.

The Democrats now have a problem. They have chosen as their leader a person: (1)That they don't know what his policies are; (2)That they are unaware of his true health history since he does not release his actual medical records; (3)That they don't actually know how much Theresa paid in taxes and what organizations and charities she has been supporting (She is one of 400 richest persons in US); They don't actually know what his Viet Nam service was since he won't sign form 180; (4) And, finally they don't know if he has any administrative or executive skills whatsoever.

The RATS should be worried. Any of these could blow up at any time. Not because of the machinations of the Pubbies, but because they really don't know who they are trying to elect.

Actually, I think they are preparing their own "October surprise"...

Hillary herself made some smarmy comment implying an October surprise up her sleeve. Don't know if it was a bluff or just her buying time to see how Kerry would fare during campaign. Maybe she's just trying to put the Hillary Heebie-Jeebies on us....

Only RATS would consider the capturing of OBL to be a bad thing.

Dirty RATS.

JFK had an illicit affair with Dan Rather's daughter? BTW, she looks just like her dad.

October surpise:

Bush come to the next debate with two bags.

One bag holds Saddam's head, the second bag holds bin ladens.

Dems will fight for his release as "an insurgent".

Wouldn't they call him a freedom fighter?

Okay, everyone. If you could create an "October Surprise" for the Democrats. What would it be?

Syria pulls a Libya and turns over WMDs with Saddams name on them. And as a bonus, the audit trail points to the French and Germans as suppliers, and the money came from the money Saddam skimmed off of the Oil for Food program.

Hillary and sKerry are one and the same. That's right, ever notice how you never see them together? That would go a long way towards explaining the support for alternate lifestyles/gay weddings too!
