Watching the feed on CNN right now. It kinda reminds me of a bomb striking, and the dirt flying up. It's really starting to pick up a bit.

I was 2-3 years old during that eruption. LOL This is my "first" this time as well. It's interesting watching it start to blow. Of course if it becomes dealy it'll shift from interesting, but for now I'm fascinated.

USGS rep: "I'd call this a slow explosion. You get water in contact with old hot rock, you get steam explosions like you see here."

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- TV video from Mount Saint Helens shows what appears to be a steam eruption. A cloud has risen above the crater rim.

Would Jim Cantore go to Mt. St. Helens?

That depends, is his official title "Disaster Magnet" or just "Hurricane Magnet"?

I was 200 miles east when it went -- two huge booms, a few minutes apart, that shook the house. The main part of the ash cloud missed us by about 10 miles -- we only got about 1/4".

I think this will probably get bigger as the fissure widens.

First the hurricanes on the east coast, then an earthquake in California and now a Volcano eruption in the NW!!

When in the heck is Bush going to knock this stuff off??? The timing of this is very suspicious.....where is the outrage?

. The good news for me, so far, is that the wind is blowing the ash cloud to the west, so it's going away from me. (for now)

Blowing West, that nice. Unless, of course, you happen to live in Idaho. Blow North old wind, blow North. ;)

Kerry campaign leader terry McAwful has stated like the Hurricanes in Florida, this too is Bush's fault.

"Everyone knows global warming is caused by Bush which caused the Hurricanes and now this volcano erruption as well as the earthquake in california earlier in the week."

He went on to state:

"If Kerry were president, he would have done everything in the UN's...errr... His power to prevent this since he served 4 months in Vietnam and was a war hereo"

Everyone else on the planet just laughed in response...
