In your opinion, how did the debates go? Did Kerry get the upperhand (yeah right) or did Bush come out strong?
Also, was it just me, or did Kerry seem a little too prepared for those questions? Kerry usually trips over himself whenever he has to answer something, but he glided through this.
"Nothing to see here, move along folks. Let's hope Bush is more prepped for the next two rounds."
Agreed. Why didn't Bush put Frenchie more on the defensive? Such as his votes against military and intelligence budgets, etc., in the Senate.
President Bush looked angry and kind of lost at times. But he showed that he is the leader we need at this time.
I would say it was a draw but President Bush should have kicked his ass.
President Bush will win the election by a landslide.
Well, I wont go quite that far, but .....
"W" didn't zacly mop the floor the way some (myself included) had hoped. Ya gotta give Kerry points for being able to lie through his teeth under pressure.
Next time!
I thik Kerry won slightly over Bush. Bush has got to stop those long pauses, it makes him look like he cant think of anything to say.
I think it was a draw. Neither candidate helped nor hurt themselves. The landscape of the election has not changed.
I'm not saying the sky is falling. Karen Hughes just made a huge point about "joining the grand diversion." Bush made it as well (god, too bad she couldn't have pinched hit for him, she's kicking ass.)
And what was that bit Kerry said about "WMD are crossing the border every day"? Why hasn't any of the pundits even brought that up? Kerry should be confronted on that.
Probably Kerry won, but so what? He proved that he can be better debator, not that he can be better president IMO.
This race will tighten considerably. We must run like we are 5 points down to the finish. Not any knock out by any means. Kerry did well though. I still think that Bush will be up in the polls. In any event....Hillary will not allow a Kerry victory.
I think Bush could have hit a home run when asked what doubts he has about Kerry's character. At this point Kerry had sounded very concise and strong on defense, which we all know is simply made for TV and doesn't represent his real position.
Bush at this point could have said, "My concern with his character is that you can't trust the words you hear him speak. He says he's strong on defense, yet his Senate records shows otherwise. Tonight he praised Ronald Reagan but in 1986 he campaigned to cancel almost every defense program championed by President Reagan, the programs which won the cold war, the programs that still defend America today. America would be less secure and far weaker on defense today if John Kerry had his way in 1986 against President Reagan."
I watched the whole debate and I didn't hear the bias, although I wasn't looking for it. Realistically, I don't care if the questions were biased. Bush is President after all, he should be able to deal with it. He didn't.
Bush missed a big opportunity on a Kerry answer towards the end. Kerry said our biggest danger was nuclear proliferation and he would hunt and secure nuclear material in Russia in his 4 years.
Bush should have said he would hunt terrorists for 4+ years. Terrorists are our danger as they will use all weapons, nuclear/biologics/belt bombs/box cutters on planes, etc. to hurt us. The securing of nuclear material is only one of may jobs Bush would do for our security.
Instead, Bush just had a weak response. He was not up for tonight to the level he needed to win.
He wasn't even listening to what the president was saying. He was taking notes as fast as his little poodle fist could scribble. Besides, you really wouldn't expect him to actually LOOK at us little peons, would you?
My God, did I watch the same debate, as most of you! I thought, Kerry looked like the pompous as hole, he is.
I saw President Bush's real heart, and others will too!

Bush got smoked.
He'll be fine, though.
What the heck were some of these other people watching?
I believe the debate went fine - no big winner. Some say Kerry was prepared, I see it as he was rehearsed. He always could talk a good talk (mostly BS). Bush was too much of a gentleman; he missed opportunities to stick it to Kerry. But Bush spoke from the heart and when he talked about keeping us safe I felt his sincerity. Kerry won no points in my book. None of the questions challenged him at all. Can't remember anything of importance he said. IMHO when it comes to defending us, Kerry has no passion; Bush has fire in the belly.
