In Your Opinion...

In your opinion, how did the debates go? Did Kerry get the upperhand (yeah right) or did Bush come out strong?

Also, was it just me, or did Kerry seem a little too prepared for those questions? Kerry usually trips over himself whenever he has to answer something, but he glided through this.

I just watched CNN and it seems that this debate (according to some polls) didn't change a lot of minds. Fortunately!

Hey folks......... for all of you that think Bush got "spanked" tonight or otherwise completely blew it.......

You're wrong !

Did you actually think Kerry would just roll over and surrender? No way !

Both men did well tonight, however I think Bush really hammered Kerry on his flip-flops and "Doom and Gloom" on Iraq.

Drink a beer and cheer up, folks ! :)

/ end rant

Just a shallow observation as I tried to think of myself as the typical couch potato(e) watching...

Kerry lectured Jim Leher and didn't talk to the camera until his closing remarks! Dubya talked to me directly into the camera almost throughout the whole deal!!!

When Kerry DID finally talk to the camera, it was still a lecture on how the Iraq war was a mistake and I din't appreciate him thinking our warriors had again died in vain for another mistake.

Neither his war nor this one were a mistake for our men to die for. He, as in 1971, wants us to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and I resent it deeply!!!

See? I started off shallow, but ended up deep...

All he seemed to care about was world opinion. World opinion isn't going to keep us from being attacked. It isn't going to keep our economy strong. You don't change opinions of others by giving into them. In doing that you only give others control over you. America cannot be controlled by any one else other than we the people.

Good point now you're picking me up.

There were other great comments made by W, they just haven't sunk in yet. Bet you Rush picks up on them tomorrow.

On the otherhand I don't remember Kerry saying any thing remotely significant. On top of that W corrected Kerry convincingly through out.

I think Hugh Hewitt has a great read on the debate, and looking at the substance, Bush won bigtime. Take a look at a point-by-point analysis of the questions:

Quite agree! To others, take a minute now and visit Hugh Hewitt

Hugh reviews and grades (A to F) each question and makes the point that the KEY gaffe of the night (made by Kerry) is that the war in Iraq "didn't pass the global test."

I believe you will see Bush ads in the very near future that hammer this point home. No such soundbite gaffe by President Bush.

A week from now, this will be what everyone remembers from this debate ...IMHO.

I noticed that, too. :) Bush DID talk to the camera, i.e. "the American people."

It took Kerry a good 20 to 30 minutes to settle down and stop coming off as a pompous ass to me. In that time, I assume 80 to 90% of the real undecides who happened to be watching changed the channel. Not good for Kerry. Bush suprised Kerry with his praise for him as a dad and threw Kerry off track in the middle of the last hour which was as good a set as he could hope for.

Bush stayed on the flip-flop theme all night long. I really appreciated his attacks defending the foreign leaders repeated thoughout the debate. Mocking Kerry for belittling the leaders he is going to have to deal with.

The rats are kidding themselves pretending they can have Iraq both ways. They'd be better off just saying they are pulling out if Kerry is elected and stop the deception.

I laughed out loud several times, and said "there it is" when Kerry said "I've had one, one and only one, one CONSISTANT policy on Iraq," all the while waving his finger up and down. The RNC better make sure this clip shows up in adds sandwitched between clips of flipper in action.

Bush came right back with a great oneliner, "the only thing consistent about your policy is it's inconsistancy."

My angel who saw parts of the debate called him the antichrist. That kind-of spooked me.

I'm not speaking of the hollywood usless crowd. A lot of regular Americans seem to be not well informed..They get their news from biased -MSM & some real biased newspapers. Not all that politically savy ..I think a good TV showing carrys a lot of weight with them unfortunately ..I only hope tonight didnt damage our chances of defeating Kerry ..Im sorry , kill me then, I honestly think Bush was pretty lame tonight Ok ..Or do I have to lie just so you guys feel better and not think Im a Dem in disguise ..Geeeez..Im bummed out enough here.

The large number of lies, mistaken factoids, and inconsistencies Kerry blathered will be filtering out into the media over the next few days. The Slave Party still operates as if they hold the mediot monopoly they once did, thinking such observations will never make the light of day. In that respect they are in error. Tommy Franks really got that ball rolling.

It would help if about half of the foreign heads of state Kerry crapped on would issue a public statement calling for an apology. How he thinks he'll be able to do business with them after such disrespect displays either extreme arrogance and/or stupidity. My vote is for "and."

Per Drudge, Joe Lockhart thought it was a draw, so it definitely wasn't a win for Kerry.

Anybody still think the Clinton's aren't trying to sabotage the Kerry campaign?

I don't believe that is proper debate protocol to have one know and the other one not.

I think Bush blew it.

No. Bush worked as hard as he could to do as well as he did. Like Bush, I am an excellent speaker with prepared notes. Off the cuff..I'm lousy, and so is he. But his sentences are short and easy to understand. He spoke at a 7th grade level..perfect for the average Joe and Jane. In that regard, he was brilliant. The Nascar folks understand Dubya. New York and Boston buy into Kerry's babble. But Kerry will lose.

Except ONE very unfair and one sided question to the President about Kerry's character flaws! Talk about a loaded question!!! He didn't even stipulate that Kerry was to reply about any flaw in Bush's character. It was a trap to try to get Dubya to talk like a Swift Boat Vet, or some such so everybody could say: "see? Bush was in bed with the SBVT all along!!!

Fortunately, the President didn't bite!!!

Kerry won't win.. Bush came out of that debate as more credible than Kerry. He came out of it as more liked and more believable.

Kerry's lies will be exposed in the coming days. His gaffe about the NYC subways is permiating the local media in New York. It's a matter of time before his reckless policy towards Iran and bunker busting bombs will be examined more in depth.

Further, joe-six-pack is not big on watching these debates. He'll get the condensed version of sound bytes. The President got his point across for the further media cycles. In contrast, Kerry's "one-consistent position" statement won't fly with the American public.

Your tagline (immortalized by the now famous, Chicken Little) reveals much.

I hope you are right my friend , I really do ..Im sorry , I thought he came off terribly tonight. If he was on game he could have ended Kerry once and for all tonight. Instead ,I think he at the very least gave Kerry another few weeks to be in the game.Something NONE of us wanted.

"I liked the way Bush looked into the camera when he spoke. Kerry never did that."

I'm not all the way through the tread yet, but I'm glad someone else besides me noticed that very important fact!

These debates are only good for two things... 1. A candidate to talk to the folks at home and not the moderator or the croud in the rooom and 2. Not to lapse into terminal stupidity or to sweat!!!

There were no number 2's by either, but The President spoke directly to the VIEWER throughout!!! Very important!
