Thank you. I have been in the debate club and Dubya lost tonight.
I still love him and wish him victory, but he lost this round with all the bullsh*t and nonsense spewed and not quelled or challenged for explaination by the moderator.
:-)
My degree is in Speech Communication, so I admit I may be overreacting on technical points.
I will say that I thought Kerry's factual content was weak. He did not really articulate a concrete plan for anything other than his disastrous idea for bilateral talks with North Korea.
But, on pure debating points, Kerry did better.
I still love him and wish him victory, but he lost this round with all the bullsh*t and nonsense spewed and not quelled or challenged for explaination by the moderator.
Given the motivation of the "moderator", and the fact that in instant scoring, it doesn't matter whether the truth is spoken or lies are spewed, there was no way for Bush to "win". In fact, because there's still a full month, all Bush needed to do was survive and allow Kerry to lie in his attempt to "win" the debate.
Look, this is nothing at all akin to some high school debate;it isn't even on par with the Yale debate society, nor the one at Oxford...which is THE premier debate club in the world. This isn't even a real debate, for crying out loud and hasn't been since the Lincoln-Douglas Debates.
In 2000,everyone said that algore won the debates, right after each debate.WHO WAS ELECTED PRESIDENT?
Case closed.
