In the grand scheme of things, we all want President Bush to win. (Most of us do!)
I recall the last debates in 2000 when people said Gore won the first one. As it turned out, he lost it. Where did he lose it? In the living rooms all across America.
John Kerry is overkilling on his perceived "facts" and "statements". For the average person, they are not political junkies.
To many folks, John Kerry will come across as a pompous arrogant jackass who votes with the wind when Beavis or Butthead tells him to.
That's just my opinion.
Now that I think of it, I remember the talking heads on Fox News (Brit Hume, Mara Liason, etc) discussing how Gore won the debate. They were flabbergasted the next day when Gore's approval went down. Seems most Americans don't like being treated like know-nothing pubes and especially were offended at being talked down to.
Let's just see how this is spun. Bush is not playing dirty, which is his problem. So far Kerry has used bad stats and deliberate misinformation, and Bush only called him once on the Iran sanctions thing.
Bush needs to attack Kerry and get him off his rocker. Kerry's answers are nuanced enough to need 1 minute for every 30 seconds he speaks. Bush only gets 90 seconds.
I get disheartened when I listen to Kerry because I sometimes think there are enough fools in this country to believe every word a lying bastard says... (see Bill Clinton). Free Republic bolsters my hopes for this election because it shows me thousands of people who can see Kerry for what he really is.
"Mom, if he is elected, Kerry is a man who will get us bombed to hell. Bush is a man who is like us. He talks what he feels and means what he says. He sounds like grandpa to me and I would trust grandpa with my life. This is the first year that I can vote and I am voting for Bush. I am going to pray very hard that we don't get Kerry 'cause he scares the hell out of me. He is too fake and he is a weasle."
So for anyone who says Kerry may be making a good impression or is winning this thing let me assure you that there are some who think otherwise.
