A gallery of prehistoric cave paintings has been found in south-west France at Cussac, in the Dordogne valley, rivalling the Lascaux cave paintings discovered nearby in the 1930s. Housing `monumental' drawings of animals in friezes almost certainly older than the Lascaux pictures, the caves also contain erotic drawings, found previously only in caves in the Ardeche region.
