"We don't think it's appropriate to have a magazine called Modern Drunkard dictate how we make our whiskey," Lynch said. I don't think Mr Lynch understands his customer base. As stated by everyone. Don't mess with what's good already. And for God's sake please don't say it's for the consumer then talk about how it'll save you money. People aren't stupid.

We usually buy JD but a couple weeks ago hubby brought home Knob Creek - it is great - so so smooth and the bottle is almost gone - makes a mean manhattan!

My doctor said I needed to cut down on my drinking by 20%.
So I switched from 100 to 80 proof.

Some of our board members drink three bottles a week. It's a sippin' whiskey. But you can sip as fast as you want.

This is like new CocaCola. They will probably bring back the old receipe and make a fortune.

Does that make it cheaper - is tax lower on the lower alcohol content ?

Rebel Yell went from 90 to 80 proof and lost me as a customer. Ezra Brooks now gets my dollar.
JD has always been a second rate over hyped sour mash.

If you're ever down in southern Tennesse, try to go to Lynchburg where they make Jack Daniels. I've taken the tour there several times and its very interesting. Also, Lynchburg is a very pretty southern town.

If people want to water it down, they can add their own water. This is sort of like the coffee tins that used to be a pound, but are now 13 oz., and the 1.75 quart bozes of Breyers that used to be a half-gallon.
Maybe they should call it "ol' 6¾".

Weaker Jack Daniel's Gets Sober Reception How nice. Jack Daniel's has become a Metro-whisky.
We'll have to start calling it "Jill Daniel's".

Well, I'm with the fellow in the article.
I switched to Makers Mark years ago. No comparison in the quality of the whisky, MM is still a good old-fashioned bourbon.
Jack has gone downmarket, and I'm not following him there. As one of Kipling's characters said about another fellow in a short story, "No more he isn't [a drinking man] but what he takes he likes good. He won't tech no publican's hogwash acrost the bar. Four shillin's he paid for that bottle o' whisky."
