President Bush's top political advisor Karl Rove said Wednesday that the Bush Cheney campaign is planning some October "surprises" for challengers John Kerry and John Edwards.
"We've got a couple of surprises that we intend to spring," Rove told ABC radio host Sean Hannity, while explaining that he intends to wage an aggressive campaign no matter what the polls show.
"It's 34 days [till the election] and that's a long time in politics and when you get complacent you lose," the top White House advisor said.
"We've got to stay on the offense. We've got to continue to press the battle onto the turf that they won in 2000: the Pennsylvanias, the Michigans and the Wisconsins and Iowas and Minnesotas and New Mexicos and Oregons.
"And we've got to make sure that we lose none of the close states that we won in 2000 - Florida or Ohio or Colorado or Nevada or New Hampshire.
"And you've also got to have a couple of surprises - and we've got a couple of surprises that we intend to spring."
Asked if he expected the Kerry Edwards campaign to engage in dirty tricks, Rove cited Democrat claims in recent days about a secret Bush plan to reinstitute the draft.
"This is all bunk. It is a sign of the desperate straits they find themselves in and their willingness to discard the truth and say anything they think that will get them a vote," he said.
I believe Bush will have John Kerry RED faced, and stammering like an awkward adolescent. Their on to Kerry's lies and tactics. They aren't going to let Bush down and Bush won't let you down. He knows he HAS to win.
This should be fun to watch. Rove is a genius. Maybe he can focus some of it on the fraud being perpetrated by the RATS.
Nope. I don't keep "links." The poster 68-69 TonkinGulf...(a long name) has all of those links to the meeting in Kansas City.
Just mentioning that you have something to spring on the opposition is, in effect, tipping your hand. Just do it and catch them totally off-guard, I say.
Thanks sinkspur. Chuckles, correcting my previous post. It is 68-69TonkinGulfYachtClub that has the links to the FBI documents.
Wouldn't have needed to. Lee would have bludgened him to death long before he became a factor in the race. Perot had a thin skin. Truth be told, he might have even been able to WIN had he not dropped out. If Atwater had been around, he would have dropped out earlier, and stayed out, if he had ever got in. He would have had some warning shots not to get in had Atwater been around.
Plausible...good point.
As much fun as all this speculation is, THIS was what I heard as well.
And Kerry "urinating on the flag" is bunk. Soon after a caller to Sean's show said this, Corsi (Swift Vet O'Neill's co-author) called the show to say this was not true, that the Swiftees had nothing on this at all, and that they wanted to disavow any connection between the Swiftees and this rumor.
Not that it wouldn't be devastatingly delicious and wholly in character for sKerry, of course.
It was stockpirate I was thinking of. I'm sorry sinkspur, I was pinging you when I meant to ping stockpirate. I got my 'pings list notes' messy.
Not a bluff. Big three (speculative):
Concubine that fled to Africa
FBI file on an-American activities
Discharge had to be upgraded to Honorable
But also could be new material.
That's why the debates don't mean squat.
The circular politcal model that places facism (authoritarianism) as an extension of conservatism in general has always been more flawed than the more logical conclusion of tolalitarianism as an extension of collectivism.
I'm not sure why this is other than the fact that well known authoritarians like Hitler, Franco and Pinochet all positioned themselves as a polar alternative to collectivism.
It is flawed though to be sure but I would never consider Hitler a collectivist.
How did he make John Kerry turn orange like that?
Genius!
;-)
