President Bush's top political advisor Karl Rove said Wednesday that the Bush Cheney campaign is planning some October "surprises" for challengers John Kerry and John Edwards.
"We've got a couple of surprises that we intend to spring," Rove told ABC radio host Sean Hannity, while explaining that he intends to wage an aggressive campaign no matter what the polls show.
"It's 34 days [till the election] and that's a long time in politics and when you get complacent you lose," the top White House advisor said.
"We've got to stay on the offense. We've got to continue to press the battle onto the turf that they won in 2000: the Pennsylvanias, the Michigans and the Wisconsins and Iowas and Minnesotas and New Mexicos and Oregons.
"And we've got to make sure that we lose none of the close states that we won in 2000 - Florida or Ohio or Colorado or Nevada or New Hampshire.
"And you've also got to have a couple of surprises - and we've got a couple of surprises that we intend to spring."
Asked if he expected the Kerry Edwards campaign to engage in dirty tricks, Rove cited Democrat claims in recent days about a secret Bush plan to reinstitute the draft.
"This is all bunk. It is a sign of the desperate straits they find themselves in and their willingness to discard the truth and say anything they think that will get them a vote," he said.
NO COMPLACENCY.
Ronald Reagan: "In my campaigns, I always try to act as if I'm one vote behind."
I thought that was EF Hutton.
yea....Lee coulda shot Perot.
Remember the FBI files of the VVAW are public. Maybe they have Kerry voting to kill some Senators or something.
Each time President Bush is questioned about his TANG service he repeats that he was "honorably discharged". I'm always a bit perturbed that this is the extent of his comment on the subject.
Now, however, if evidence of a "dishonorable" discharge for Kerry is revealed this would put Bush's service in stark positive contrast to that of Kerry...hmm.
I agree. I still don't think Carville has ever won anything. IMO, Clinton only won because of Perot.
bttt
Did you see this one?
;-)
What ....... with her mouth opened?

Rove wasn't speaking of anything negative. I think strategically speaking, he will have some surprises.
5. add in the UN oil for food scandal. We may find out who was on the under the table payroll.
Please keep those unsightly visuals to yourself!
:)
>>>I agree. Lee Atwater's death was a great loss. Without him to help shape the campaign and define the issues, Clinton got in...for eight long years.
With all the voter fraud coming to light; what makes you think Clinton 'got in' for eight long years? I call for a do over.
>>>Maybe they have Kerry voting to kill some Senators or something.
Sinkspur had some links to those files.
