Well, stay tuned today, folks. The Swifties will have another ad, probably tonight - and this one features POW wives talking about John Kerry's testimony and actions when he returned from Vietnam - while their husbands were being held and tortured in North Vietnamese prisons. (We wrote about these women before. Click here to see our first take on their potential impact)
Not only will this surpass the last ad buy ($1.4 million), it will also include a "satellite tour" of these brave women. Radio, TV, press conferences - ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. A serious and well-funded grassroots effort.
Frankly, I think this is going to make the bus tour/townhall meeting effort associated with deep-sixing HillaryCare in 1993 look tame.
TRANSCRIPT, "Never Forget"Devastating.
Mary Jane McManus: Three months after we were married, my husband was shot down over Hanoi.Phyllis Galanti: Paul and I were married in 1963. Two years later he was shot down over North Vietnam.
MCMANUS: All of the prisoners of war in North Vietnam were tortured in order to obtain confessions of atrocities.
Galanti: On the other hand, John Kerry came home and accused all Vietnam veterans of unspeakable horrors.
McManus: John Kerry gave aide and comfort to the enemy by advocating their negotiating points to our government.
Galanti: Why is it relevant? Because John Kerry is asking us to trust him.
McManus: I will never forget John Kerrys testimony. If we couldnt trust John Kerry then, how could we possibly trust him now?
Looks like I will have to open up the wallet and donate some more to the swifties. Dynamite!
Do they have to stop running the ads thirty days before the election? I heard that on TV.
Think I'll send 'em another $25
We can trust John Kerry...to do EXACTLY the same thing again to our service personnel. He will abett, negotiate with, and lend aide and comfort to the enemy in Iraq at great risk and cost to our personnel there, and at great risk and harm to all of us here.
Dems plan to counter this with by showing ads from the 5 mothers of Iraqi soldiers who have died. I saw a part of it on CNN last night. There was one woman crying about how she felt betrayed when she learned there was no Al Quaeda/Iraq ties.
Ugh... October is gonna get ugly. Isn't politics grand?
I think it's only if they are a union etc.
gulp! Is this the one Rush was talking about a few weeks back?
Swifties can run their ads whenever they want as long as the money comes from individuals, and not corporations or unions.
That is the most revolting and disgusting ad, EVER.
Using mothers who lost sons in war to attack the commander in chief.
If the Dems run that ad, they show themselves to be even more EVIL than I thought.
Unions etc have to stop ads. Swift Boats can keep a goin!
Kerry, do you know what it feels like to get smacked upside the head with a 2X4? IF not you will soon! LOL
Check on the way. My daughter-in-law will be horrified one more time. She's VERY liberal and when I told her I had sent them money she about died.
AWESOME!
anyone know if we'll be able to get all their ads on DVD to show our family and friends?
I beleive the restriction is only on "soft-money" financed activities. "Hard-money" (subject to FEC individual limits) activities are still ok, I think.
Its targeted to women voters. A prime Democratic constituency. Blamm-mo!
I thought I heard that all the 527s had to stop their ads 30 days before the election...... I may have heard it wrong. And I may have heard it on cBS.
That was what the CNN commentator thought too. The point is to turn the security moms back over to Kerry... but I think it will backfire.
Not if it is hard money.
How did she 'learn' that? It's a lie.
