I was having an argument with another FReeper about how many of the old timers were still around. I tell people there is a FReeper vsyndrome and that most of them are still around, they just don't post much anymore.
Here is your chance to put these rumours to rest. Chime in and let everyone know you still are alive and kicking. Post your registration number if you know it.

Was it John somebody? Jack.
He got banned more times than Kerry has changed his mind.

Do you know whatever happened to him? It's a long tale. You can get hints of it on the Web, if you desire.

What was the story? I think last I remember of him was during the recount. I think he was trying to have one of Gore's lawyers banned from practicing in FL? Man, I am exhausted, and this is the best I can pull from my dern brain.

The purpose of this thread wasn't to put the fossils on a higher plane than later registrants. Actually, I'm surprised every day how FR has somehow remained true to it's original identity. Back when, we had posters like Bill Barclay and Ed Millar who would post fiery rhetoric, Schultz, Scotsman and Gallutia would come in a offer temperate analysis.
We didn't need mods, we had Deb. Most posters would be suitably chastened if they were admonished by Schultz or Gallutia on getting something wrong, but nobody and I mean nobody wanted to be taken down by Deb. Got your facts wrong? Haven't properly checked your sources? You would get sliced and diced and laid out for all to see.
The "rules" the FR game were laid down long ago by leaders who wanted to see this site become something more than a chat line.
Thank God for them.

We were hungry, thirsty, and very, very tired. You were a hard taskmaster at the cleanup, Peter. We didn't want to leave the place looking like liberals had been there, IIR your words correctly. ;-)
And after that, we went over to the (I forget the name of the building) for a party/conference.
That was a gas, over there. Freepers galore, on both levels.

I'm great, thanks. So good to see you. I feel kinda lost in a sea of names, these days. But that's good, I reckon.

Long time no see, is FTR Pilot still around?

Lurked here almost everyday in 1998. But I signed up and posted only at TalkSpot in '98. Does anybody remember TalkSpot?
It was a small operation.

Yes, OWK was one of the first in line at the MFJ HQ to volunteer his services. The amazing thing about that event is that we had people from all walks of life arrive from all over the country, at their own expense, to volunteer for the most mundane duties. I and my assistant and the other organizers were absolutely flabbergasted by the incredible array of professions that would be happy just to pick up trash for the cause.
I still have the roster of screen names who came forward to do so much for no tangible reward. It was one of the proudest days of my life just to be associated with such wonderful people! Bless you for being there.
