I was having an argument with another FReeper about how many of the old timers were still around. I tell people there is a FReeper vsyndrome and that most of them are still around, they just don't post much anymore.
Here is your chance to put these rumours to rest. Chime in and let everyone know you still are alive and kicking. Post your registration number if you know it.
Hey! Nice ta see ya there "old" lady!

hotshot- Mar 28, 1998
Some days I don't post as much as others, but I am always checking the news here.
ID=69
I found FreeRepublic about Sept. of 1997. At that time I was very new to the web. I got my first computer July 25, 1997 and had to be shown how to use it. Now I'm building my own.
My current project is still being refined. Click on my screen name for the info about this computer as of May 5, 2004.
I'm creating DVDs from old VCR tapes of ex teacher and student interviews made for The Gaston Museum.
1998 here. Just barely.
I can't believe FR's still here. I thought it was doomed when the Times and the Post made their first attempt to kill it and bankrupt Jim Robinson. I thought FR's most glorious moment was the March For Justice, and that it would struggle without the Drudge link, the opposition of Lucianne Goldberg, and the demise of TalkSpot. Now, we celebrate our greatest victory in the headline-making destruction of Dan Rather's fake, biased reporting and the long-overdue damage to his and CBS News' reputation.
Freepers have proven themselves to be -- as the Ramones once said -- too tough to die!
I just wish CaL was here to share in the glory. Wherever you are, Connie, I still think you're terrific.
Here I am...since May 1998.
I rarely post, but read almost every day.
I remember when Registration began and I had been reading FR for a while so I must have bên lurking from sometime before November 97. Sometimes I go for wêks logging all the 97-98s I see and there are so few 97s at all. I will only log 3 or 4 out of maybe 500 names.
March 3, 1998
Nov. 30, 1997. I remember the days of Navigator and Eschoir. That's when men were men, and women were scared.
Lurked for 2 months before finally registering.
I'm still here, although I have my own name now. Marie Antoinette and I joined in august '98. Just in time for the MFJ.
Freep'ing when freep'ing wasn't cool...
|| Since Feb 19, 1998 || aka 1768 ||
DITHF was the first big blowout we had on FR. It spawned the first anti-freepers...some of them are still active to this day.
September 1998. I have no idea of my number. In fact, I didn't even know I had a sign up number. I don't post a lot but am totally addicted to this site.
KG9 Kid -- Checking in, boss.
I know I go back earlier than 1998.
Great chat topic
OOPS!!! My home page says I registered 10/27/98, so I must have driven to DC with the kid in 2000. Flew to NC to see Linda Tripp a few years later.
Razorback_Bert is out of town so I'll speak for him. He was at another site with Jim when FR first started, before registration.
Been here since the New York Times kicked me off their board for revolutionary ideas like the Constitution counts. That would be June of '98.
I had loads of fun with Selectrics (and for that matter, all typewriters). The procedure is, write something. Look at it. Get writers' block. Rip the paper out of your typewriter. Wad it up. Aim the wadded paper at your wastebasket from three-point range. Miss. Insert a new sheet of paper. Write something.
This can go on for months :-)
