I was having an argument with another FReeper about how many of the old timers were still around. I tell people there is a FReeper vsyndrome and that most of them are still around, they just don't post much anymore.
Here is your chance to put these rumours to rest. Chime in and let everyone know you still are alive and kicking. Post your registration number if you know it.
Another proud FReeper checking in. March 18th '98.....#2638
Found FR from a link on Drudge.
I lurked a few weeks in June and July of 1998 then finally decided to logon and post.
You are #257.
Wow! Hw do you find that out? Are you an oldie?
All that stuff was behind the scenes...I don't really know nor do I need to know what happened to end their relationships. But I do miss the pithy comments of Clarity and CAL's great observations.
It is Jim's forum and he can run it any way that pleases him. I appreciate him and all he does.
My registration number is 6678. It would have been lower by a few if I hadn't lurked for about 20 minutes before registering after finding this site from a link on Drudge.
LOLing is not a great observation.
It has been a long time, but my memory of CAL is that she worked in PR or marketing and had savvy opinion about the then current political events. LOL is a lot easier to read than the current hugh and series. TG that the moose, wine and cheesers seem to have run their course.
Wow how time flies when you're having fun

I don't know my # - I lurk more than anything - post on tax threads a lot...
What a long, strange road it's been. First on Rush Limbaugh section of the Issues Forum on CompuServe, then on Town Hall on CompuServe (until a rabid gay agenda type who made Tad Devine look angelic took it over!), then the Whitewater site from which I was encouraged by ML/NJ (an old bud from the Limbaugh section on CompuServe) to the "Clinton Administration Scandals" (CAS) e-list, and then from there, here.
New members (actually anyone who has joined after 2000!) might be amazed at how ANTI-BUSH this site was during the Republican primaries in 1999. Instead of getting zotted or banned, the Buchananites just about ran the place. I was so aggravated by the multitudinous "Bush is a Drug Runner" threads (more prevalent here then than at DU now!), that I became an ex-freeper for a while.
JR's insistence that we unite after the primaries to support George Bush brought me back.
I particularly remember the Elian wars. During one freepathon I offered to donate $50 for someone to post the picture of Elian with the dog "Dolphin" given to him by Lincoln Diaz-Balart, and that photo became my computer wallpaper (along with one of Registered's beautiful shots of Elian in a forest with scripture) until the post-9/11 photo of the firefighters lifting the flag amongst the ruins of the World Trade Center.
Who can forget Election 2000? One of my fondest memories was Hole-n-One's many threads during Judge Saul's hearings with his photo captures. Our threads were simultaneous with the action in various courtrooms and I can remember the ridiculous out-of-his depth voting analyst with a weird accent the Democrats came up with and our trying to figure out where he was from and someone coming up with the nickname "Frenchie" for him (he was Polish).
I could get nostalgic over the past at FR, and I do mourn our losses (especially the wonderful BC Johnson who I met on several occasions), but there are many wonderful people who have joined and many posts I look forward to reading every day, particularly governsbestgovernsleast (?) about morning show shenanigans.
FR has kept me one of the best informed right wing nut jobs for which I am eternally grateful!
I knew they would find us out eventually... ;-)
Good to hear from you; hope you are well; I have been spending almost three years on:
a 'New Tolkien Dictionary'.
It never seems to end... then there is the recovery from four hurricanes: whoopie!

Still here. 11-98 iirc.
I was late to this party; had to get my beebers tuned and it took longer than I thought.
I'm not sure how/why I'm listed as April 10, 1999. I was sure I first registered in late 1997.
