It will be easy for us to lose this election, and the consequences will be far worse than anything we can concieve of. I know that there are alot of "Yellow Dogs" down south here. They will vote Democrat even if there isn't a candidate. Sure they are pro-Gun and hunting, but they just can't believe that some one like Kerry would touch their hunting rifles.

HA!

When I lived in Massachusetts it was nearly impossible to own ANY kind of firearm. Or you could, but don't let your landlord find out, or a utility repairmain, or a meter maid, or the neighbors kids. And did you know that PISTOLS are outlawed! Possession of any pistol is FIVE year no parole....MANDITORY! But if they want Kerry...Well, it is their stupidity that will kill YOUR FREEDOM.

It is very possible that we will lose this election. Take out a load and get the guns you've been dreaming of. Because if we lose this one, the BAN on fire arems will be stronger, greater in scope and magniture and longer lasting than any of us than believe.

Do you think the impending starvation and dehydration of poor Terri Schindler Schiavo in FL could depress GOP voter turnout there?

If Kerry is elected, can we really expect the close pal of EMK, Orrin G. Hatch, to work with fellow Republicans to block Kerry initiatives?

[ We Can Lose This Election!]

BULL... Bill'ary Clinton won't allow that to happen..
What malfeance Bill'ary has planned for Bush's second term is the thing of worry.. greasing the way with slime for election 2008 NOW that could happen.. Unless the Pajama People can show how a democracy really does suck.. and so do democrats.. Because democrats are really only being honestly for a real democracy which is rebellion against THIS REPUBLIC and extremely seditious....

THAT is the fact that must being broadcasted.. and highlighted that makeing this country a democracy is sedition and treason.. since more than half this country already BELEIVES the U.S. is a democracy when it isn't.. America NEEDS some cold water in the face.. There must be a way to pull this rug from under the democrats feet.. If any can do it, the Pajama and Bunny Slipper'd folk can..

Good post. Complacency does indeed kill, and I see far too much of it on Free Republic, and hear far too much of it among associates, friends, and family. "Kerry is toast"; "Kerry's campaign is imploding"; "Bush will win New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, and could take New York." And so on.

We repeat the polls we like to each other, and dismiss the polls we don't like as frauds. For instance, we loved Rasmussen in 2000 when he had Dubya with a big lead; we hate him now since he gives the President a statistically insignificant lead.

In early August, I suggested that we might be too optimistic. I feel better about our chances now now than I was when I wrote that, but this race is still in great danger. The consequences of a Kerry win are too dire for even a moment's complacency.

As others on this thread have said, I wish folks would put a sock in the "Kerry is toast" stuff.

I am getting optimistic about Maine. When I went to pick up tickets for the Bush Rally, there were many young people picking up call sheets and the place was a buzz of activity. Also since the rally, there are more Bush signs and stickers than I have ever seen for a Republican candidate in my 70+ years. This is in southern Maine. I was called recently and asked if I wanted an absentee ballot. This will be much more convenient for my hubby and I because of our age so I was pleased to get the call. Still registered as a Dem as I love to hassle the Dems when they call. Haven't voted Dem in many, many years much to the chagrin of all my relatives.

We can lose the election if Jimmie Karter and the UN observers are allowed to do in Florida what DemocRATs have been doing for eons in Cook County!

Is there any way we can help with the national election from a supposedly "safe red state"?

Make sure you vote so all the other not-so-safe positions on the ballot are filled with conservatives, or at least the more conservative choice. The more lopsided the vote the less chance the RATs can a) cheat, b) claim "there is no mandate", c) claim the election was illegitimate/votes suppressed/etc.

Plus, as a bonus, it demoralizes the heck out of the RATs. I used to live in liberal-land (Seattle area) and loved the looks on people's faces (suicide watch time) "the day after" another Republican victory.

YES! I agree! Get out the vote and stop the RATs in their tracks forever!

Over-optimism and complacency killed the cat. Remember Gov. Dewey!

Voter fraud may definitely be a problem - with all of these 'new' voters being registered in battleground states.

The 2000 election is a perfect example of why EVERY vote counts.

**All the scenarios I see for Bush losing have to do with various means of vote fraud. And that is very frightening. How do we combat it though? That's the mystery for many decades it seems.**

Don't involve Carter

I think someone on this forum coined the phrase, "VOTE AS IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT"......it does!

We might also add WORK for BUSH/CHENEY '04 AS IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT.

Complacency Kills

So can being demoralized...I think portraying Kerry's defeat as inevitable is as useful as anything else we could do.

For my own part, I'm not going to relax until after the polls close on November 2nd.

That should be the motto for all of us! (We may need to put off relaxing until sKerry's lawyers have been blown out of court, though.) Let's keep busy, folks!

There is a reason the base didn't turn out in 2000, and that is the RINO's reached out to people other than the base. I will vote for Bush, as will my bride to be, but some in the Republican party are working very hard to turn it into Democrat lite.
