...Has anyone found any confirmation of this story? Where?
Any media org's picking this up, please report back here.

This Yazdi guy seems to be a some kind of cult leader. I see he is prophecing that the Iran regime will fall next week! Anyone got any factual info on this guy?...

I have been hearing reports from people at the demonstration.

It is real. The exact size of the demonstration has not yet been confirmed, but it is large.

Regarding Dr. Yazdi. Yes, he is claiming the regime will fall this week. People in Iran have had mixed feelings about him. Some have thought he was crazy, other believe in him. It appears those who believe in him is growing.

Personally, I think the people are ready to support "anyone but the Mullahs."

I am getting more reports soon I will keep posting them as I receive them.

...I am watching Azadi TV ...but it is just showing some canned video ...looks like regime propganda against west...

Azadi TV is one of the most Pro-US of the Iranian broadcasters into Iran. Sometimes they show images of the regime. But they hold the regime in contempt.

Prayers for a fast and basically bloodless Regime change in Iran.

The blood can flow after the Mass Murdering Mullahs are regime changed and then tried for crimes against the Iranians, the middle east and America.

thread-"Iran police break up pro-democracy demonstration at Tehran university"
http://www.turkishpress.com/turkishpress/news.asp?ID=28628 ^

Posted on 09/26/2004 1:16:17 PM CDT by yoely

TEHRAN, Sept 26 (AFP) - Iranian police broke up a demonstration calling for increased freedoms outside Tehran university on Sunday, the student agency ISNA and witnesses reported.

"People gathered around 4.30 pm (1200 GMT) in front of Tehran university's main entrance shouting slogans and handing out flowers and sweets," the news agency said.

"These people are obviously under the influence of the Iranian opposition based abroad," added the report, in an apparent reference to anti-regime satellite television channels broadcast into Iran.

Witnesses confirmed that hundreds of people had gathered in front of the university shouting pro-freedom slogans.

The report said the gathering was broken up by police, but there was no suggestion that any violent clashes took place.

An AFP reporter who toured the area around the university later in the evening reported heavy traffic but no sign of any fresh gatherings

END.

This is from a french reporting agency, apparently. And apparently the French, well, are the french

I hope this gets news anyway. Whether HUNDREDS or HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS....it matters!

OK - that was just my take on it, not knowing Farsi. They have a music video on now.

I would be shocked if the Iranian military made any moves to violently suppress the demonstration...

The ruling clerics have their own gangs of Islamic thugs to use against the students or demonstrators....

The key to Iran's success in throwing off the currrent batch of Islamic lunatics -- is for the military to JOIN the students.

Corruption is endemic thoughout the Third World - the poorer and more primitive the society, the worse the corruption (I don't know how we managed to escape from that as much as we have).

Can a regime change bring a real cultural change?

And, once again, how much support is there in Iran for a secular regime, for real tolerance of other religions? Are we looking at a recreation of the American, the French, or the Russian Revolution? Or at a new Pol Pot?

Just did, and in no uncertain terms.

Several months ago, I heard of a poll(don't know if it was foreign or Iranian)that indicated that young Iranians were increasingly being drawn to the gentle,Jesus Christ. I thought that was just wonderful.

...how much support is there in Iran for a secular regime, for real tolerance of other religions?...

Under the Shah the people were quite tolerant. Christian and Jewish minorities are treated reasonably well, even now, although they are not allowed in positions of power. I would expect religious tolerance would be part of any new constitution.

It also appears that most Iranians want religious freedom and a true democracy. I hear this consistently from my contacts inside of Iran.
