They say the children of illegal immigrants didn't make the choice to come to the United States and should have the choice to further their education after high school.
I disagree. I do not want to pay for these children to attend college, high school, or even elementary school.
Their parents are responsible for their education. If they cannot afford private school in the states then they need to return to their home countries for their childrens' educations.
Another thing that needs to STOP. If an illegal has a child here in the US, the child is an American. WRONG...this child is a dependent of an illegal alien.
Americans should not be supporting or encouranging this behavior by allowing these people welfare or education.
They say "Charity begins at home." We have enough American's that are homeless and in need of welfare. Illegals need to find their OWN way in their OWN countries. I'm sorry if this sounds cruel, but if my family or I were illegal, they would have our butts back to our own countries. I'm tired of paying taxes for people that aren't even Americans and or citizens. Most can't even speak English!
Now the government even wants to issue them DRIVERS licenses. When will it end?
I like how you inserted your own observations in a distinctly separate style. FR member lonewacko_dot_com has a good term for these kinds of articles: PIIPPs (pro-Illegal Immigration Puff Pieces).
My viewpoint as well. Stop the anchor babies! I renewed my license last week and saw some Mexican about 55 years old, who couldn't speak a word of English, getting his first drivers license EVER. Yeah, he's legal..right. Worse, I didn't see him show ID. I know I did. And I can only assume the test was in Spanish, but how did he take the road portion? None of the DMV workers could talk to him. I was disgusted. Now he will get some POS van and will blocking traffic as he blunder along below the speed limit trying to figure out what he is doing.
C'mon, now. As a Georgian you know the guy won't be half the menace we Tennesseans are on the roads ;^ )
Seriously, you're right about the rampant dual-standards crap. Some seem to be more equal than others, and they don't even belong here.
I went into a Wendy's the other day and the Mex manager took mu order, then relayed it in spanish to the assembler, who answered in spanish to be translated to me in English. When she screwed up it was ridiculous. Que? Que?
The other reason --- since these kids have had their primary and secondary education all in Spanish --- they can't speak English and are not prepared for college --- unless the taxpayers want to cough up the dough to have Spanish speaking professors also. They are far more prepared to study back home --- someone needs to inform these ignorant kids that their so-called dream of college isn't really over --- they really do have colleges back home. The only problem --- they would probably have to pay their own way --- except Mexicans have free tuition in many of their state colleges.
The law? They believe they are better than other foreign students who do follow the laws --- there is nothing stopping them from going back home and filing for a student visa --- but one of their biggest problems as compared to those other foreign students willing to go the legal route --- the language --- other foreign students ironically have learned far more English. These kids have to have their Spanish speaking liason explain everything.
The problem is there is no enforcement of immigration laws.
Today, I could take an immigration agent and show him 100 illegals, and break for a casual lunch.
But the agent would do nothing.
The only way this will change is when the populace starts to vote against illegal immigration.
We have to start voting for, or against, anyone, on every level, based soley on their stand on illegal immigration alone.
And demand that your local town, county, you name it, government not deal with a company that employs illegals.
The immigration laws appear to be the only laws you can break with impunity in this country.
The RNC has gotten tired of sending me letters asking for bucks, because I always send them back saying I will not give them a dime (anymore) until they start enforcing immigration laws.
Federally we have no chance. GWB/Kerry, it does not matter on immigration. Neither will raise a finger to solve the problem.
It must be handled on a local level.
I don't have "that piece of paper"known as a winning lottery ticket and it is preventing me from realizing my dreams.
I was just in Nashville for a funeral and couldn't believe the way people drive. I was sitting at a red light last year and someone took off, aimed right at the car in front of me, sideswiped us both and took off. I'm living in Northern Colorado now and the people drive much better.
FAIR, mentioned in the article, is supporting a law suit against the Kansas version of the DREAM Act:

I note that this article is very similar to other articles on the DREAM Act, right down to the "Enter the DREAM Act" bit.
Also, just two sentences were devoted to the other side. The reporter should have done a much better job. Unless, of course, selling the DREAM Act was his job.

But the agent would do nothing.
The problem isn't with the agents. They put them in front of an activist immigration judge who in the name of discretion lets them stay regardless of the law. The immigration judges need to be exposed. The immigration judges are not accountable to anyone.
Ever wonder what the statistics would be on accidents caused by illegal aliens?
I think the law should be changed so that it takes 10-20 years to gain citizenship. Ten year if you marry a citizen born in the U.S. and you are married to him/her after 10 years and 20 years for all others.....and yes, a baby is a citizen only if the parent is here legally.

DEPORT!
How many tax dollars paid for these dozens? I'd say that's newsworthy!
