I remember that moment very well, too, Carolinamom, and have mentioned it to some people in our neighborhood who watched but didn't catch "the look".

It was absolutely PERFECT.

The next morning Barbara Bush was on one of the morning talk shows and was asked about Gore nearly stalking her son on stage. She noticed it and said something about she thought Gore was going to hit George but she knew her son could take care of himself.

Agreed! The nod was one of dismissal.........for good! That Gore rude power ploy did it for him IMO.

"...some professor who was trying to run us down by saying how good the left wing bloggers were...."

His name is Klam (not kidding). I must say I learned all about the Wonkette blog and do not ever feel the need to visit that site.

The "look" Bush gave gore was priceless and hard to describe. It had a little hint of a smile, an amused smile, that seemed as if Bush wanted to guffaw but didn't. That little smile and nod won the election for Bush.

^^^^^

It was "I know I've got you now. You have exposed yourself and every viewer of this debate now sees the real you"

Apparently watching people play poker on TV has become very popular and is drawing in the young viewer. We need to tell them that Bush is THE master at Poker. I think they will be able to relate to that comparison if they have any knowledge of the game.

"I will NEVER as long as I live forget the LOOK that Bush gave Gore then! LOL! Hoping to dominate Bush by his presence in Bush's space, Gore made an absolute FOOL of himself.
Ya gotta say these are the MOMENT in politics :). We may see another one coming up with Kerry.

So far the RATS are true to form. They have two lies that are consistent. The first is the war in Iraq is lost or in the process of being lost. Even Krystal gives the "losing war" some credence. The second lie best put by David Broder in today's paper is that the Swift Boar Veterans have been proved wrong. This second lie needs repeating and repeating since it is hard to accept if you actually look at the facts. The first lie is really helped by the WAPO putting the increased number of attacks on Page 1. Of course, that is precisely what Al Queda and other murders in Iraq want.

The antidote for the two lies is simple. In respect to Iraq it is "We must not cut and run." In respect to the Swift Boat Veterans it is, "Have you read the book?"

Senator Kerry has been correctly labeled by the Swift Boat Veterans as a cowardly braggart. It helps that Senator Kerry has a boat named "Scaramouche". It summarizes not only his character but also the underpinnings of the RAT position.

If President Bush is as smart as I think he is he will take the following motto as his talisman in the debates--Keep it simple, stupid! Kerry uses words like levers to leverage people into becoming supporters. His words have no actual meaning and that is why he "flip flops" or says completely opposite things. As such he is a danger because people are not really knowledgeable about his past positions. To solve this President Bush need only to keep it simple, straight forward and to keep the moral high ground at all times. Simply putting out Kerry's inconsistent statements is not enough. The President must Affirm in the most positive way what his supporters know and believe regardless of whatever current lie Kerry comes up with.

We watched it, despite our shared aversion to Mario Cuomo's former handyman.

Christopher Hitchens should have his own show where he is not subject to the rudeness and ignorance of panel hosts.
I should add, their resentment and envy.

He was on Scarborough the other night and had to correct Scarborough who called him Chris. Instead of accepting the correction and calling him Christopher, the name he prefers, Scarborough continued to call him Chris, Chrissy, etc. It was so juvenile and disrespectful it made me cringe.

If these morons that head up these shows are so ignorant and ill-bred that they cannot behave with courtesy towards their guests only those low enough to submit to such treatment will appear. Perhaps that is why we are deprived of Mr. Hitchens.

Mr. Hitchens would be a bracing antidote to the yapping cyphers the media moguls consider adequate for an informed electorate.

Of course, if Mr. Hitchens had our uninterrupted attention on a regular schedule we would soon realize that what the moguls have palmed off on us all these years as political discourse is a cheap con, an insult to the intelligence of the least intellectually evolved among us.

Andrew Sullivan is welcome always, even when he wobbles on personal hobby-horses.

"Juan says Kerry will appeal to people saying we are not safer, bad judgements in Iraq...Trying for unmarried women who don't get out to vote. "

"Oh, yes, Juan. Those single women who don't bother to vote surely sit in rapture before the TV watching the debates."

And will just adore the ever-so-subtly nuanced Kerry. The man's a scumsucking pig, I don't care through whose eyes he's being watched.

Chuck Hagel is worse than Joe Beiden as far as I'm concerned. I wish Hagel would just join the Democrats where he belongs.

It's almost a network "dirty trick" to have on a DUmbocrat senator along with Graham< McCain, Lugar, or Hagel. They provided the Dims with their talking points last week, looks like they're going to do it again.

I don't supose there were any real Republican senators available. Next week it'll be Chaffee, he was on CNN during last week, WHY because he says he just can't vote for Bush. BARF

Trying for unmarried women who don't get out to vote.

That sounds like Kerry..., Winning the hearts and minds of people who don't vote. Now that's strategery!
