I was wondering the same thing. The Bible says that when we see the building of Mount Mariah, that the day is close for the Rapture.

If they can no longer use the Temple Mount, is this the prelude to the ground breaking for Mount Mariah?

Hmmm... I am a student of the Bible, but certainly not a scholar and I don't recall a prophecy that says "In the end days hundreds of thousands of Muslims will descend upon the land of Jews, not unlike a plague locusts, despite the Israeli government's warning that such an action could result in the death of thousands and thousands of the followers of the 'Religion of Peace"."

In a roundabout way, yes it is. The Bible says that the Jewish Temple will be rebuilt on the Temple mount. In order for that to happen, guess what has to be removed? No man could do this without inducing the rage of the muslims. I can see this happening to fulfill prophecy.
