Thought a thread in Breaking News for the weekend covering Hurricane Jeanne would be a good thing. Post your link, pics, updates and freeper check-in's here
I came from IL so I know what you mean about tornadoes.
These Hurricanes are stressful.
We just got glanced by Frances but Jeanne I think is making a beeline for Jax.
I'm not riding this one out at my place. I'm packing my guns and few important things and staying at my parents brick house tomorrow night.
I don't think Jeanne will get up to Jax tonight.
Plus I got tickets to a Bull riding show tonight about 6 miles away, I'm not missing that.
Four hours from Savannah to here. Tell 'em to step on it. Either that or go to Atlanta/Columbia.
"[Jeanne's pressure is] going lower and disaster may be looming I think for Florida, with a 940 or lower storm possible at landfall tonight near Melbourne around 3 am, Jeane being the biggest and strongest of the 4 [hurricane to hit the state this year]. I pray I am wrong, given the implications."
"The big story though is Jeanne, which has a chance to pull a Hugo deepening on its way into Florida and be the meanest of a season that is as unforgiving as they come."
I'm nervous. Tonight when the baby and I go to bed, I'm putting the flashlight RIIIIGHT next to my head! Last hurricane, rummaging through the pitch darkness was very Silence of the Lambs. Not fun!
Mandatory evac. Fire Rescue vehicle just rode through here telling people to be out by 6pm. Mobile homes don't do too well in such storms.
Where you at?
LOL!
WTF does FNC have the their screen now???
THE NEW FOX HURRICANE BOX..........
HIGH - 6:26PM (+2.3 feet above low)
LOW - 12:42AM (1st good news of the day)
HIGH - 6:46AM (Jeanne should have passed)
Oh, ugh. And your in Apopka? I'm on the Apopka, Plymouth Sorrento line, though not in a mobile home.
Good luck and Godspeed.
The guy on the weather channel said the eye is as wide as the path of destruction from charley.
Everything looks like Jeanne could easily end up being the worst of the quartet. Charley was a powerful Cat 4 at landfall but a more compact storm. He was also moving along quicker. Frances weakened a lot before landfall and wouldn't have even been that big a deal (as hurricanes go) if she didn't move so slowly dumping all that rain. Ivan was a monster but was kind enough to drop to Cat 3 a little while before smacking Gulf Shores.
Jeanne is a rainmaker like Frances and is set to carve a wider path of destruction than Charley, and now they're forecasting her to strengthen as much as Cat 4 incoming (unlike Ivan, who was weakening) and then gradually meander up along the coast. This one could be vicious!
Hang in there Floridians, and prayers for you.
Will Orlando escape this storm? My MIL lives there. Thanks in advvance.
Stay safe, SE Mom!
For some reason, it seems less irritating than most I've seen; esp TWC.
Thet're calling Ft Pierce.
oxen, I'm confused, are you talking about kerry or jeanne?
I just got back from an unabashed junk/comfort food run & other last minute "might want this if we're in for days" things. otw pretty much ready to hunker down now, I'm thinking. Ya'll stay well, take care.
Im getting depressed. I am prepared with all the stuff you need - even have a chainsaw by the front door in case I get blocked in FROM MY STUPID NEIGHBORS LEANING TREE (sigh) - but I am exhausted from this.
Maybe it's the "unknown" that is weary. But I am just hoping/praying the electricity stays on around here.
