JACKSON, Miss. -- The Mississippi State Fair opens in two weeks, but it's already losing money.
A group with ties to the Ku Klux Klan, called the Nationalist Movement, is planning to set up an information booth at the fair -- a plan that's driving away some businesses and customers.
The group's leader, Richard Barrett, calls it a "pro-majority" group. The Anti-Defamation League calls it white supremacist.
Either way, the group's attempts to set up shop aren't sitting well with the fair commission.
"I've been here for three years and gone to the fair every year," said Ramie Mitchell. "This year, I think the tradition will end. I don't think we'll be there this year."
Mitchell said she won't be bringing her two boys to the fair if Barrett's booth is there.
Barrett said he wants to spread his group's message and honor the Rev. Edgar Killen, who was acquitted in the 1964 murders of three civil rights workers in Neshoba County.
Barrett said the booth is an extension of his First Amendment right to free speech.
"You have more freedom today because of what Richard Barrett has won for you in freedom of speech than you had yesterday," Barrett said. "Because of this exhibit and this preacher, you'll have even more freedom tomorrow."
The Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency doesn't want to get caught in the middle. It's pulling its $300 booth from the fair to avoid any association.
"The nature of what's going on over there could upset alot of people," said agency spokeswoman Dani Edmonson. "Aand if we're there, they may not be very happy with us being in the same vicinity of someone like that."
Both the fair commission and Barrett say they've received verbal threats.
"They say, 'I'm gonna find out where you live and stab you and kill you,'" Barret said.
But Barrett said the threats won't dissuade him.
As for Mitchell, she said she won't change her mind about staying away.
"I think it should be an embarrassment to the state," she said. "We ask for outsiders to come here, and it's a slap in the face."
Yes --- political correctness is all about hypocrisy --- racist superiority groups are all fine except only not for white superiority groups. They're all wrong -- and I'm not for all kinds of free speech because I think the Koran should be banned in this country for what it promotes --- which is the killing of all of us. It's ridiculous that kids can strut around in high schools with Brown-Power or Black-Power but a white kid imitating by doing the same with a White-Power shirt would be kicked out of the school for good. It's all about double-standards. White Chamber of Commerces would be sharply condemned but any other kind is great.
LOL!
THAT explains it.
Thanks. :)
"What does outrage accomplish when you cannot do anything about the beheadings?"
I beg to differ. We can do something in response.
I am angry that these cowards are beheading bound men, and not just men, American men.
I wouldn't love it more to shove the muzzle of an AR-15 or an M4-1a up thier Muhammedian a$$ and shoot off a few tracer rounds. But, I can't. Like most of us here in the US, that is the case.
"Pay NO atttention to takenoprisoner,
who is SERIAL POSTING about the two
latest beheadings on nearly every thread!"
Are you stalking me? Pay no attention to the beheadings?
I guess you're right oxen. The KKK is a more serious threat today than terrorists are. How many have they lynched thus far this year, ten fifteen people?
Please pardon my intrusion. I was mistaken.
We could march. We could protest. We could wave our shotguns in the air. We could get off our fat asses and away from our keyboards and do something visceral. How horrible woould that would be?
THIS THREAD IS NOT ABOUT BEHEADINGS!!!
GO FIND ONE THAT IS ABOUT THAT SUBJECT!!!
"Please pardon my intrusion. I was mistaken."
YOU ARE SORELY MISTAKEN.
GO AWAY!
My apologies to anyone who has been offended by my shouting.

If you think any of this will stop it then
lead the way we are right behind you.
"Excuse me sir.
I detest the be headings as much as anybody.
That being said I also detest the State of Mississippi
being dragged the racial mud at every opportunity also."
If you live in the south you may as well get used to it. I too was around during those formidable years. I rode on city buses wishing I could sit on the back seat. You see, it was a full length seat at the rear of the bus. But all I could do was dream about it since I was not allowed to sit there because I was white. Sort of a reverse discrimination depending upon one's perspective. Point being, the memories of these times linger on...as it was a shameful part of the past. It may take yet another hundred years for these memories to fade.
No, you and I were not a part of that but our parents were either by subterfuge or willful negligence. It is not uncommon for the sins of the father to be passed to the son. Now you know.
Meantime, the so called Klan, whatever remains of it, consists of a powerless (and mostly harmless group except for their bullhorn diatribes spewed from their pulpit of disgrace and dishonor.)ie A lunatic fringe order certainly not worthy of our time at this juncture since we have much more important matters to tend to which extend way beyond our own sensibilitites...like, "I also detest the State of Mississippi being dragged the racial mud at every opportunity also."
I find this trivial under today's cirmcumstance. Regardless, I will now fulfill dixiechicks wish to "go away" so she can continue her infatuation with the klan.

You just HAD to go screw things up didn't you?
The Supreme Court has ruled we do not have that right when it is applicable to this subject!!! Civil Rights Amendment,1964.IIRC
It is the law of the land....Thank God...

First, when mentioning someone on a thread, it is customary to ping that person.
Secondly, you DID try to hijack this thread. While the beheadings are horrendous, why do that when there are so many threads about the subject? Obviously, you were very affected after viewing the video. But, there is a proper place for your remarks. This thread is NOT that place.
Thirdly, this is NOT the South of 40 or 50 years ago. You really need to move into the 21st century.
"Regardless, I will now fulfill dixiechicks wish to "go away" so she can continue her infatuation with the klan."
You have absolutely NO facts on which you can base that statement. And, it is, in and of itself, an insult.
Lastly, and most importantly, you have insulted WKB. Because he posted a thread that you deem meaningless, you have questioned his patriotism, and questioned his seemingly lack of outrage at the beheadings. As wardaddy said,
"I can attest that WKB is pissed off plenty at the beheadings."
I can attest the same.
NOW, you may go away.
TNP....there really is little call to be so angry.
This thread had enough "fun" with Drovers' "What's wrong with the Klan?" comment.
"This thread had enough "fun" with Drovers' "What's wrong with the Klan?" comment."
I got here late, and missed his comment.
He said THAT?
Good grief!
No wonder it was pulled.
You are truly berift of decency.
How dare you make that ugly remark about dck2,
and then NOT ping her. You're not new here:
you know the rules.
dck2: take heart --- consider the source.
I learned from another poster that #108
was posted to me by "takenoprisoner" so he
must have a hatred for women and a penchant
for picking on us rather than men...
Governor Arnold has a word for his type: "girliemen."
It seems to fit "tnp."
As I said, I think any group that teaches hatred of another race should be banned. However, if a group does not teach this; if they are only talking about issues that are more obviously an issue for their race, religion, or ethnicity versus other people, then I don't have a problem with it. For instance, jewish or asian schools, hispanic or black clubs that are trying to combat the issues that affect their race and ethnicity more than others. Historical clubs that have white only members like the daughters of the american revolution, Skull and bones, religious clubs that have religion as their theme like the masons, eastern stars, etc. I could go on but my point is, these clubs have not taught their members to hate or created an environment to kill other people. The KKK has. They have a history of it.
All of the other clubs are inherit in the constitution (Free speech). And I could care less if the club was a black, hispanic, jewish, asian, or religious club. If they teach killing, practice killing, have a history of killing, then they are wrong and should be banned.
They are no different than the terrorist that behead innocent people.
I cannot believe you would create such as post with such diatribe about reverse discrimination during the days when american citizens were made to sit on the back of the bus, and were savagely beaten or killed for not doing it.
Poor pitiful you and your long seat in the back emotional trauma.
