I was just thinking the same thing. They say he's an outstanding journalist and it's the producer's fault. Well, if Dan wants to be a journalist then it falls on his shoulders, particularly after he defended it for days and days. An outstanding journalist wouldn't have done that.

I couldn't help contemplating over the last few days what gives Dan Rather his power. He's not a journalist. Is it some sort of cult of personality or the gathering of power over time? I need to read Bernard Goldberg's book again.
