Roger stone - Republican Operative - Behind CBS Forged Docs?
New York Post ^ | September 21, 2004 | Fredric Dicker

Posted on 09/21/2004 4:17:37 PM PDT by BJungNan

The hot rumor in New York political circles has Roger Stone, the longtime GOP activist, as the source for Dan Rather's dubious Texas Air National Guard "memos."

The irony would be delicious, since Rather became famous confronting President Nixon, in whose service a very young Stone became associated with political "dirty tricks."

Reached at his Florida home, Stone had no comment.

Maybe I should wander over to that DU place and post that I know for certain that I saw Karl Rove and Roger Stone eating breakfast and laughing it up together in a south-side Houston Denny's Restaurant early on the same day that that "unidentified man" slipped those bogus documents to Bill Burkett at that livestock show.

I'm not saying they aren't forgeries, but Rather, in the Chicago Tribune is quoted as saying he still doesn't think they're forgeries.

And don't forget - the evil Republican plotters knew Buckhead would immediately bust them. Yeah, Buckhead's tied in to the plot as well. And everyone at Free Republic, too. Been planned for years - Jimi Robinson was secretly plotting with conservatives from the beginning to blow up Rather and the Kerry campaign. Mwooooaaahahahahaha. (Bass Evil Laugh Sound) DNC, Kerry campaign, the whole rotten lot of them, have completely lost it.

The Village Voice is as bad as reporting as CBS. Check out the lead paragraph, Roger Stone..."the longtime Republican dirty-tricks operative who led the mob that shut down the Miami-Dade County recount and helped make George W. Bush president in 2000".

What a lie. It wasn't any Republican operative (oh, and when the Democrats do something and get caught I bet they aren't referred to in the press as dirty-tricksters) that "shut down" the Miami-Dade County recount. It was the press wondering why those doing the recount were all of a sudden grabbing ballots and heading upstairs to a private room to finish!

Then, and only then, did the GOP gather to protest the FACT that the County people were breaking the law and trying to make sure spoiled BUSH votes weren't recounted!!!

Dirty trick? Sounds like protected free speech to me.

Yeah, the Village Voice doesn't try to hide their partisan leanings, unlike Dan Rather. It was offered only to support my contention that Stone was indeed Sharpton's campaign manager.

And don't forget every time the story runs, up comes that nice photo of W in a flight suit. Don't discount the power of that image compared to long-haired wierdo sKerry in his protest fatigues.

The only problem is that Stone is currently working for Al Sharpton, not exactly a Republican.

If I had to pick one person in this whole scenario that I would like to see shamed, disgraced and generally made a fool of...McAwful would be my first choice. I really can't stand the guy and want him off the stage, humiliated.

. . . and I'm saying that you could report on an independent proof that the memos are fraudulent every day for a month. Refusal to make up your mind when the evidence is in is bias - and bias is all that CBS has to offer.

Wonderful. The Democrats have completely eschewed the principle of Occam's Razor.

That was my first thought when I read the article.

Let's see, which scenario is more likely to have occurred:

1. The Republican's created the documents and then sent them anonymously to Bill Burkett, knowing that CBS would contact him, obtain the documents, send them to the Kerry campaign, run a big story on them without trying to authenticate them (or noticing that not a lot of documents were created on MS Word during the early 70s), post them on their website, and finally get nailed by bloggers (all undoubtedly part of the vast right wing conspiracy); or

2. Burkett created them.

"When do we let the DUmmies know Kerry is really a deep cover agent for Karl Rove? Oops! Was I s'pose to mention that?"

Well, there is that Skull and Bones connection.  heh heh

Number three, if CBS could pin this on a Republican, or even suspected a Republican, don't you think they would have said so.

Yes. Case closed.

Read the article, thought it was a joke at first...Stone worked on Sharptons campaign, and was thought to be using Sharpton to attack Dean...that's even beyond Rove. I certainly hope this guy has nothing to do with this...that's all we need.

Sounds more like something the French would do.

Yeah. Republican French makes documents to ruin Bush, then hands them off [to agent provacteur], knowing they would be handed off [to Italian Intelligence], passed up a hand to hand [to the CIA] then into the hands of a willing news organization that would use them to try to destroy the President
