Woodstein are so yesterday. Carl is in New York still doing his "Don't you know I'm famous" act. Woodward will write a book, next year.

And, The Congressional Investigation called for by Congressman Chris Cox needs to go full steam ahead. We cannot let this die like the "Sandy Berger thing" and everything else. We have them on the mat and we can't let 'em up. I see Dan Rather, Ben Barnes, Mr. Burkett, SeeBS News AND THE KERRY CAMPAIGN all being implicated in this.

"Burkett told USA TODAY that he had agreed to turn over the documents to CBS if the network would arrange a conversation with the Kerry campaign." Looks like Burkett isn't going down alone.

Within about a two day time span, the New York Times, Boston Globe, CBS, and Kerry Campaign all launched a coordinated attack on President Bush.
Not only was it predicated on dubious sources and forged documents, it was clearly coordinated, at least as far as CBS and the Kerry Campaign was concerned.
We have got to go full bore to keep this outrage alive, force the Kerry Campaign to answer questions every day for the next several weeks about this. They are already in near chaos and getting caught with their hands in the cookie jar ought to put them over the cliff. I am ecstatic to hear that it is being picked up by others, just ecstatic.

This is becoming a routine.
Every day, I keep thinking that this story has gotten as bad as possible for CBS. Every day, I am proved wrong by some new revelation that I would have scoffed at the day before as being too off the wall to be credible.
Amazing.

"Uh oh. I'm not wearing my underwear." -- Dan Rather going Rain Man at this point.
Meanwhile, Kerry gets in a few words with Letterman's extremely small audience on CBS' Late Show
Long live Post 47 and the diehard PJ Brigade!

Rather's indefensible problem now is; he knew or should have known about this, did not disclose it in prior confessions, etc.
This is very serious. ABC friend was just called for NFA comment by a major newspaper. Paper is remaking the front page for late editions.
Lights are on in newsrooms, and phones are buzzing.

This has turned into the stink smelled around the world.
Nice going Dan. Lockheart just about single-handedly stripped Kerry of any meaningfull press in the last week. Nice job.
Folks wouldn't it be a hoot to call CBS all day long saying, "Hey, I know where you can get some really great documents to take down Bush." Then bust up laughing as you hung up.

??? I think the fact that he stood by these forgeries should have cost him his job; for one of the leaders of one of the few media monopolies to so blatantly put forth what he must have known was false to the world, during an election year, that was quite bad enough. This just makes him even less worthy of his job.

Classic Nixonian/Clintonesque PR disaster. Had Clinton told truth about Monica, apologized, would have blown over (bad choice of words) in two weeks.
CBS knew much better than to have tried cover up.
This is journalistic disaster. What did Dan know? When did he know it? Who else was called? Did money change hands? Were there promises of increased advertising budgets for CBS and CBS stations?
Questions that were laughed at two weeks ago are being asked early this morning.

Anyone remember the letter that Cleland tried to deliver to the President's ranch while he was in Texas... Texas, the same state that the forger Burkett lives in?
Here is a quote:
"This administration must not tacitly comply with unfounded accusations which have suddenly appeared 35 years after the fact, and serve to denigrate the service of a true American patriot."
Apparently, this rule doesn't apply to the Kerry campaign or it's surrogates like Cleland.

Kerry's speech given to NYU kool-aid faithful sounded exactly like his testimony on behalf of the VVAW. Put the voices together. He even enunciates words the same.
The one true character trait of Kerry is that he remains treasonous.
