on hannity and colmes now
Anyone else wonder if Burkett was asked to come up with the evidence that would "connect the dots" on the story? He was obviously willing to do anything to help the Kerry campaign and the DNS could use him as a scapegoat if it plot leaked.
Of course he didn't talk about Bush's Guard records. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Isn't there an enterprising journalist out there who wants to bust this story wide open? Win a Pulitzer...become the next Bob Woodward or that other yo-yo?
CBS ends up going after Kerry and bringing him down after they tried to bring down Bush!
Let me guess...Kerry was at the meeting where they discussed the forging of the documents but voted against it.
Sounds more and more like a coordinated effort going on here. Does anyone else find it just the least bit inappropriate for the producer of 60 minutes to contact and cordinate with a politcal campaign just prior to them running a hit piece against the President???
Anyone?
What did Kerry know and when did he know it?
I wonder how Lockhart, Davis, Begala and Davis feel about Clinton happily loaning them to the Kerry campaign in order to sink it. What must cross their little pinheads as Clinton says, "Yeah guys, go help'em. Knock yourselves out."
It means nothing. Look, CBS discredited the Pajamahadeen last week.
We had best simply drink our warm milk, watch Leno and go to bed. Nothing to see here.
Oh yeah,...This rocks
What a bunch of, well, scumbags!
...
Lockhart said he does not recall talking to Burkett about Bush's Guard records. "It's baseless to say the Kerry campaign had anything to do with this," he said. ...
Lockhart said Mapes asked him the weekend before the story broke to call Burkett. "She basically said there's a guy who is being helpful on the story who wants to talk to you," Lockhart said, adding that it was common knowledge that CBS was working on a story raising questions about Bush's Guard service. Mapes told him there were some records "that might move the story forward. She didn't tell me what they said."
Points:
1. Mapes calls Lockhart in the Kerry campaign suggesting he contact Burkett about records "that might move the story forward." The 60 minutes producer of the bogus story offering suggestions to the Kerry campaign regarding a story they were about to break? CBS must investigate, if this report is true Mary Mapes crossed way over the line from journalistic integrity to blatent unfair political partisanship and should be fired.
2. Why would a Kerry campaign insider tell a reporter all of this? It doesn't make sense, unless you consider that this admission my Lockhart (and Max Clelands) is just more damage control. It appears that a much bigger story than just fake documents and Dan Rathers gullability is breaking here....
Bump for later - frickin' unbelievable.
"There is a very strong risk that this president is irreparably damaging his credibility," says Joe Lockhart, a former spokesman for President Clinton.
Democrats say it may be too late. Lockhart says, "The clock is ticking on this guy."
What did the kerry campaign now and when??
"Cleland said he gave Burkett's name and phone number to the campaign's research department."
I thought the original story was that Cleland told Burkett to call the campaign. This is different-- or am I misremembering?
