It was greatly lacking in what the apology should have been. Yet it's better than I thought it would be. I really thought they'd wrap up the apology in an overall hit piece. Instead, they just lamely tried to claim they did it with no malice. Yeah, right.
Let's not forget those stalwart Dem supporters:the Boston Globe and USA Today. They got documents too.
Who gave them the documents. They should fess up.
Why would three major media outlets accept the word of Bill Burkette? Do you believe them.
Say goodnight, Dan.
I continue to be absolutely bewildered by Dan Rather's intransigence on this matter.
Most of the news coverage is saying that CBS has admitted they were deceived about the memos. That's not what I saw.
What I saw was Dan Rather digging in and trying to salvage the story. He asked Bill Burkett (while knowing what his answer would be), "Did you forge the memos." Burkett answered "No."
What I saw was Dan Rather trying to send the message that the memos are indeed real, but they just can't prove it.
CBS News has turned this case into a farce!
Where'd Burkett get these documents????
The memos came from the Acme Document Company.

Just like Watergate, the more Dan "Milhous" Rather stonewalls, the worst it will get for him. The parallels between Watergate and Rathergate are truly amazing. Deja vu.
GGRRR, anyone watching O'Reilly spinning for Rather? He wants us to believe that none of this was intentional!
The woman from TIME, Nancy Gibbs said Kerry Kampaign thought the MSM would act as 'umpires' for the story. (She referred to the Pajamhadeen! LOL!)
Newsweek's Isikoff is squirming about the question that the Bush guard story is on page one and Swift Boat Vets are buried.
There's an online poll about whether Dan Rather should be fired:
http://www.nydailynews.com
It looks like the libs are voting in big numbers in the poll, since the majority is saying Rather should not be fired.
OK, gossip time - lucianne is running a header that says AP says "Lockhart admits to calling phony memo source Burkett at CBS producer Mary Mapes' behest three days before show aired
Details to come......"
Big time link to kerry himself if true...........
bump
In my opinion, Dan Rather's "apology" was nothing new. If he was truly misled, he should have called for Bill Burkett's head on a stick and demanded the other "source" come forward ASAP, so that they could have their head put on a stick. Dan Rather wasn't angry. To be honest, Dan is still hiding something.
