I finally figured out what was so wrong about her "let them go naked" remark. Everyone knows she was actually making sense -- emergency shipments of food and water are indeed more important than clothing. But the thing that made her remark seem so ... alien is that in the US we don't practice that kind of triage (a French word). We're Americans! We send everything, and we do it in great quantities. If some group needs three trucks of relief supplies we'll probably send them six trucks. The kids will go home from those hurricane shelters with more than they started out with. Happens all the time. Americans are generous in a crisis.
But Mr. Kerry's lady doesn't have that understanding. She lives here, but she's not one of us. Her reaction to the hurricane problem was very European in tone: "Send in what's absolutely essential, and skip the rest." But we don't operatate that way. And she doesn't get it.
Actually the clothing was very necessary to protect the people from malarial mosquitos. She should never have questioned what the relief effort was asking for.

Sarge, I've been seeing that ghastly picture of Ostridge and been reminded of the old original Star Trek series credits. You know, the one at the very end that had the real ugly "balloon head" alien with the grimace on his face?
Maybe Susan owes the Roddenberry estate an acknowledgement for the use of that image on her own face.

Howie's show is carried by a number of radio stations outside MA. I believe that he has stations carrying his show in North Carolina, Florida and I think also Ohio. I am sure that there are more.
He had a great caller on Friday. She was hopping mad that he called Kerry a gigolo. He asked her what she thought one was. She said that it was for someone who had sex for money. Howie laughed and said, okay, that works too. She got even madder. Then he asked her if she would prefer to call him a golddigger. She was so mad, she didn't even think and said yes (very emphatically). We were all roaring with laughter.
And where would we be without the $7,000 bicycle and the now sold Italian motorcycle? LOL!

I used to like Sen John Heinz, but didn't know a lot about him.
Now when I see this haughty, stupid, useless narcisstic woman, I wonder if he was a lesser man than I thought.
An embarrassment. Teresa speaks Portuguese and that is fine. I know a woman from Brazil that never said a dirty word in Portuguese. She's a real lady in polite company. What's going on with Teresa?
